Overview

As a Freelance Data Scientist, you will be responsible for realizing the value that data science and advanced analytics can have on everything we currently do with our biggest client. Success for this position is measured by the ability to successfully identify and implement data science projects that go beyond theory to enhance business/marketing outcomes. This role functions both independently as an individual contributor and within a larger team of data scientists.


Responsibilities

  • Navigate the unique challenges presented in trying to leverage data and technology in a marketing/advertising environment critically considering existing processes (analytics, consumer insights, media, creative)
  • Develop and refine models addressing common marketing objectives. Examples include media targeting/optimization, personalization, regression, and attribution
  • Help us better understand the consumer and quantify their complex relationships with the business, generating audience insights using advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, audience profiling, segmentation, survey and test design
  • Help further the agency’s analytics maturity in capabilities, data products, and tools
  • Exploratory analysis and data mining: connect and analyze extensive, often disjointed datasets including product meta data, user level data, primary research, audience profiles, social commentary, and DMP data.
  • Contribute and provide thought leadership to the business and key stakeholders. Articulate clearly and proactively with internal teams and client as relevant to the role.


Qualifications

  • 6+ years of research or work experience as a Research Scientist, Data Scientist, Research Assistant, or a related occupation
  • Prerequisite technical skills and tools typical of data science work such as Python + libraries, SQL, R, data platforms/structures, visualization
  • Proven track record of statistical reasoning
  • Strong ability to translate between business problems and data work via requirements gathering and creative problem solving
  • Strong communication skills and ability to surface technical decisions that impact outcomes
  • Experience working with marketing/advertising/survey data a plus
