Description

WTWH Media is seeking a Event Leader to join our dynamic team. The Vice President, Events will be responsible for developing WTWH’s conference and event strategy, leading design and execution from the events team, managing the P/L and delivering outstanding attendee experiences for 20+ conferences/events. Primary duties will include the creation and execution of an annual strategic plan while collaborating with key stakeholders on the development, operations, marketing and selling of each event. The role will oversee design and delivery of unforgettable experiences unique to each WTWH portfolio, while creating a marketplace to monetize each brand. This role will be pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, fostering cross-team collaboration, and driving continuous improvement across event execution teams, including Media, Logistics, Editorial, Audience and Marketing teams.


The Vice President, Events will possess strong leadership, event management, communication skills and passion for delivering unparalleled audience experiences. This role must deliver events on budget, achieve attendee/delegate targets, create value for our audience(s), and achieve revenue goals. The Vice President, Events will report directly to the COO. As the leader of Events, travel may be required to WTWH events and other meetings, expected to be frequent during events cycles.


Leadership & Team Development  

  • Oversee and mentor Events team, fostering cross-functional collaboration and efficiency.
  • Work across teams to build camaraderie and to find consensus and buy-in on processes and approaches with multiple stakeholders.
  • Champion a high-performance culture that balances process discipline with the agility needed for complex, custom events. 
  • Assess team structures and recommend changes that optimize efficiency and performance while allowing for employee development and growth. 


 Strategic & Tactical Oversight

  • Define and drive the strategic direction of event operations in alignment with company growth goals, analyzing operational metrics and providing data-driven insights to the senior management team. 
  • Monitor and manage event profitability, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining event execution standards. 
  • Ensure team drives efficiencies around vendor, venue and partner relationships.
  • Analyze event performance and ROI, using data to inform future strategies and continuously improve event demand generation effectiveness.
  • Lead internal resource planning, forecasting, and budgeting related to live events.
  • Standardize best practices while ensuring flexibility for client needs.
  • Implement tools and processes that increase efficiency and scalability in event operations, reducing redundant efforts and bottlenecks and increasing cross-team communication and collaboration.

  

Marketing & Event Innovation

  • Partner closely with the COO, leadership team, and sales teams to align operational execution with client needs and to find additional opportunities to add value to customers.
  • Work with internal and external teams to deliver content and experiences that drive attendance and sponsorship
  • Work closely with sales, creative, and media teams to ensure operational feasibility of new event concepts and to brainstorm event solutions.
  • Oversee all communications, social media and industry engagement activities for events.
  • Directly manage media and community partnerships.  
  • Partner with event marketing team to ensure effective marketing campaigns, including PR, social media, newsletter copy, banner and retargeting ads. 
  • Prepare marketing partner reporting.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, event management, operations, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in event management, a strategic event leadership role, operations or related field.
  • 6+ years of leadership experience in overseeing event management, technical production, or live event execution teams.
  • Proven history of successfully driving revenue and pipeline through events, with measurable results.
  • Experience managing event budgets, P&L responsibility required.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate clarity, consistency and effective persuasion.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong drive to achieve results and continually improve on content and sales performances.
  • Self-manage remote work life effectively, with ability for frequent work travel.
  • Proficiency in project management and event software and operational systems.
