The Pension Analyst for Defined Contribution will work within a team to provide quality client-focused administrative services for our corporate clients. You will be responsible for administering pension plans and providing analytical support to both clients and the team. Our aim is to streamline plan options and simplify communications between members, administrators and fund managers. Our Ariel administration system is a robust recordkeeping platform that supports membership database updates, electronic data interfaces, calculations and transactions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Performs standard pension benefit calculations (retirements, terminations, etc.) in accordance with plan rules and legislative requirements.

  • Processes interfund transfers, contributions, withdrawals, and terminations for clients.

  • Assists in the preparation of year-end annual pension statements and provides regular and ad hoc reports for clients.

  • Works with pension databases and TELUS Health's internal software/systems, including entering, updating, and auditing information.

  • Receives and responds to routine plan inquiries and requests from clients and plan members.

  • Liaises with consultants, trust companies, and investment manager representatives concerning clients' DC plans.

  • Performs monthly reconciliations and ensures quality control and service standards are maintained for all transactions.

  • Keeps apprised of applicable new and existing pension, tax, and securities legislation; shares knowledge with the team.

  • Attends internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends.

 Qualifications

You're the Missing Piece of the Puzzle:

  • Post-secondary education (preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science)
  • Experience administering Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution pension plans, including knowledge of provincial pension legislation, tax regulations, and experience with benefit calculations (retirement, termination, death) and multi-employer plans.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent communication and time management skills as well as the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Advance proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook); expert proficiency in Excel
  • Dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence
