Position Summary:
The Technical Business Analyst is responsible for the development, configuration, integration, and operational support of Workday, the College’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) and student information system (SIS), as well as other administrative software systems. The position supports Workday across modules such as Human Capital Management (HCM), Finance, Payroll, and Student. Operating in a team-oriented environment, the developer works closely with campus stakeholders, IT staff, and vendors to analyze needs, build technical solutions, and ensure the continued optimization and security of Workday and related systems. The role encompasses all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and issue resolution.Job Description:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Reporting, Data Analysis, and Operational Support – 60%
Develop and maintain knowledge of Workday data structures to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
Design and deliver Workday custom reports, dashboards, and calculated fields based on stakeholder requirements.
Troubleshoot user-reported issues and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
Provide user support for Workday transactions, processes, and report usage.
Assist other staff with Workday report writing and ad hoc data queries.
Business Process Analysis and Configuration – 20%
Collaborate with functional users to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within Workday.
Explore and test new Workday features and present recommendations to stakeholders.
Support configuration of Workday business processes, condition rules, and validation criteria.
Conduct comparative analyses and help ensure consistent and efficient use of system functionality across units.
Training and Documentation – 10%
Design clear documentation, job aids, and knowledge articles for users and internal IT reference.
Assist functional areas in delivering training on Workday modules and new or updated processes.
Communicate system changes and updates in a user-friendly, actionable format.
Project Management Support – 5%
Assist in managing Workday-related projects and enhancement requests.
Maintain and track status of project plans and support testing coordination.
Participate in post-project evaluation to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Other Duties – 5%
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, computer information systems, information management, or related discipline.
Professional experience in the Information Systems field, including technical support and programming for an ERP system — Workday experience preferred.
A combination of Information Systems experience in providing support for an ERP may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree only.
Demonstrated experience in an ERP or enterprise system analyst role (Workday preferred).
Familiarity with HR, Finance, or Student business processes in a higher education or enterprise environment.
Experience with report writing and data analysis tools, including Workday Report Writer or similar.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Workday modules (HCM, Finance, Payroll, or Student).
Familiarity with Workday calculated fields, condition rules, business process configuration, or dashboards.
Experience with XML and XSLT.
Experience in Java, Python, PowerShell, or other modern programming languages.
Experience with project management or business process improvement methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
