Volk Optical is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Vice President of Sales – North America to lead the strategic revenue growth initiatives across Volk’s distribution, direct, and OEM channels. This role is responsible for driving revenue, expanding market share, and seeking out new revenue opportunities across the region. This sales leadership role is critical to driving the company’s growth strategy, developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing plans that capitalize on competitive advantages, emerging market opportunities, and industry trends. You will work closely with both direct and indirect sales channels to grow Volk’s sales in key markets including Optometry, Schools, Ophthalmology, as well as potentially in General Medicine / Primary Care.
You will be accountable for achieving the sales and margin targets across a broad customer base—from distribution partners to individual practitioners and academic institutions. This is a high-impact role requiring hands-on sales execution, and a deep understanding of customer needs.
Sales, Market Share & Revenue Growth
- Drive and be accountable for sales activity across North America, delivering against revenue and margin targets.
- Work closely with, and support North American in-house sales resource(s) & distributors to exceed Volk’s growth objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners, public and private healthcare providers, universities, and training institutions.
- Proactively identify, cultivate, and execute new business opportunities across all product categories.
- Establish KPIs for sales effectiveness and sales pipeline, regularly reporting on progress and adjustments needed to strategies.
- Attend and represent Volk at key industry events, exhibitions, and conferences.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to ensure future growth beyond immediate targets.
Market & Customer Strategy
- Implement the regional sales strategy in alignment with global business goals.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify areas of opportunity.
- Work with Product Management to identify and engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the region, to drive advocacy and thought leadership for Volk products.
- Support tender responses, contract negotiations, and pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with company policies and governance.
Sales Execution & Process Management
- Own the full sales cycle—from prospecting to closing and post-sales support.
- Ensure external partners are fully equipped and trained in Volk’s product portfolio.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support order fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed records of pipeline activity, customer engagements, and market feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and operational guidelines.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by participating in internal innovation projects.
About You
With strategic leadership and focused execution, the Vice President of Sales – North America will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth and shaping the future of Volk Optical.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in sales and business development experience, with at least 5 years in a hands on leadership role within the medical device sector, preferably (but not required) experience in ophthalmic, optometry, or healthcare distribution.
- Proven track record of closing high-value deals and growing revenue in a competitive market.
- Channel Management: Strong understanding of selling through distribution, GPOs, OEM partners, and other wholesale channels.
- Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to develop and implement effective sales growth strategies.
- Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong track record of working cross-functionally with engineering, product development, and customer service teams to align strategies and objectives.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and performance measurement.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and clients.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics while maintaining focus on organizational goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
