Job Description

Summary: The Associate General Counsel (Litigation, Risk & Compliance) is primarily responsible for handling pending and threaten (non-employment) litigation and material disputes; developing and overseeing the Company’s corporate compliance program; and providing advice and assistance with respect to the company’s Risk program.  Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel Litigation, Risk & Compliance has a strong corporate litigation and compliance background with good familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and associated matters.

LITIGATION

  • Oversee and direct all external (non-employment) litigation, arbitrations and similar contentious proceedings, including conducting early case assessments and develop litigation goals as needed
  • Oversee and select external counsel, advise on settlement strategies and assist with appropriate ASC 450 reserve setting activities

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE

  • Develop and oversee the company’s corporate compliance program
  • Conduct and oversee internal investigations as needed

RISK

  • Review legal-related risk exposure of the company and recommend appropriate mitigants
  • Team with internal audit to develop an appropriate Risk Management Program

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 1-2 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors/third party outsourced vendors.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Required Qualifications 

  • 12+ years of relevant private practice and in-house experience
  • Must be a licensed attorney from an accredited law school with good credentials and stable work history

Certificates and Licenses: Juris Doctor (J.D.)

  • Ability to manage fast-paced workload and add value to multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-sufficient person who shows project ownership and enjoys working across departments
  • Commitment to an “above and beyond” level of service at all times.
  • Analyze complex transactions on a timely basis and memorialize necessary business and legal terms in well-developed agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively resolve complex legal issues in a manner that fosters business interests and advances company goals.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency
  • Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel 15% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.  Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. 
 

We anticipate the salary range to be $145,653.75-$233,046.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.  This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors.  These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
