BC Hydro Properties Planning & Asset Management (PAM) is responsible for long-term planning and asset management for BC Hydro’s corporate and field office real estate across British Columbia. PAM also develops and manages the capital investment plans for the Properties’ managed building portfolio, ensuring the effective and efficient planning and optimization of capital and maintenance investments. We ensure that Properties 10 year capital plans align with BC Hydro and Properties' strategic direction and reflect financial and resource constraints, business and operational risks, and stakeholder business requirements.
The project manager manages and assists planning and asset Management responsibilities including the developing and enhancing asset management practices/processes/strategies for Properties managed facilities, conducting risk/value assessment, providing recommendations, producing facility asset plan when and where required, and managing Properties Asset Owner Compliance under BC Hydro’s Safety Programs (e.g. Asbestos, PCB).
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assists/leads in planning and asset management initiatives through engagement and analysis of key information (e.g. technical reports and assessments) and understands business needs and priorities of occupants and stakeholders.
• Plays a key role in analysis to inform asset investment strategy and Capital Planning process including: identifies and prioritizes investments for properties-managed facilities based on asset health, risks, operational priorities and organizational strategies.
• Establishes standards for the implementation of the projects and monitors progress to ensure the work is carried out in the most cost effective manner using project management principles
• Consults with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of issues of importance to the projects
• Ensures that internal and external resources with appropriate skill sets are provided, assigns work and provides instructions, advice and technical leadership and guidance to project staff; reviews work in progress and assesses completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance
• Investigates and analyses unusual problems, evaluates risks and applies innovative solutions
• Responsible for establishing and managing databases for reliable and accurate information management
• Serves as a subject matter expert and leads special projects as required.Supports the development and coordination of materials on behalf of Properties for BCUC regulatory filings, including Revenue Requirement Applications, capital projects summaries, project applications and other proceedings as required.
• Demonstrates interest and is committed to the delivery of safety programs.
• Leads the Properties Asset Owner Safety Program Compliance, managing Properties’ requirements under corporate safety programs including asbestos, PCBs, confined spaces and others.
What you bring –
• Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline such as real estate, communications, business, economics or other discipline
• A minimum of 6-8 years’demonstrated experience in planning and managing real estate (or similar) projects within large corporate environments. Preference given to candidates with experience in the development and implementation of capital investment plans (ideally in the Real Estate/Properties field), asset management programs, and/or project management experience within complex service areas/categories.
• Strong and proven leadership, relationship building, communication, presentation, facilitation, business writing and interpersonal skills.
• Good planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Knowledge of BC Hydro's organization and processes.
• Strong asset/programmanagement skills, relationship skills, business writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Real estate and/or construction management knowledge would be an asset
• Experience working with databases and information management would be an asset
• Knowledge of BC Hydro’s asset management policies and practices would be an asset
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Good planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
