Job description

The Technology Solutions Analyst serves as a strategic and technical partner between university departments and the IT organization. This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, designing technology solutions, and ensuring alignment with the university’s digital strategy. The position combines elements of business analysis, solution architecture, and project execution to enhance IT service delivery and business process improvement across the institution.

Max Pay – Depends on experience:

Job Description:

Salary Range: $80,600- $100,000 per year: DOE


Essential Duties:

Solution Design & Implementation:

  • Analyze business requirements and design scalable, sustainable technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to evaluate software, integrations, and cloud-based services that support university functions.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop technical documentation, process flows, and user guides to facilitate implementation and adoption.

Business & IT Collaboration:

  • Act as the bridge between university departments and IT to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders across academic and administrative units to identify opportunities for process improvement through technology.
  • Partner with IT governance groups to prioritize technology initiatives based on institutional goals.

Project & Vendor Management:

  • Work with project managers to support the delivery of IT solutions within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting technology vendors and third-party solutions.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and ensure contract deliverables align with university expectations.

Data & Systems Analysis:

  • Assess system performance, identify gaps, and recommend enhancements.
  • Support integration efforts between enterprise applications, cloud services, and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure data integrity and alignment with institutional reporting needs.
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance.
  • Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of enterprise applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, LMS, ServiceNow, Workday) in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with business process modeling, workflow automation, and system integrations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with data security, compliance, and IT governance best practices.
  • Experience working in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and APIs for system integrations.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Certifications in business analysis, enterprise architecture, or IT service management (e.g., CBAP, TOGAF, ITIL).

Working Environment:

  • Tempe Campus 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Hybrid or flexible schedule as determined with supervisor and within ASU/Enterprise Technology guidelines.
  • Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
  • This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse.
  • Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
