The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Investment Analyst, Equity to join our Public Investments Team ! The Investment Analyst will work with the Director, Equity Investments to support oversight and implementation of firm-wide equity strategy. They will be responsible for understanding investment trends and competitive developments in the investment industry and assist with implementation of the investment strategy for the general account and internally managed segregated funds, with specific focus on the equity component. What you will be doing:
Responsible for investment research to:
Perform historical investigation, regression analysis and other statistical analysis of markets to determine potential trends and/or scenarios that will help risk evaluation as well as shape the overall investment strategy.
Assist in maintaining and developing the equity frameworks to ensure relevant market factors are being considered by sector, style of country.
Contribute to the development of macro-economic research and investment strategies.
Stay current on strategist sell-side view of Canadian and US economy and stock markets.
Perform analysis on ETF securities to ensure suitable/optimal securities for our portfolio including an annual review of the ETF marketplace and the offerings in our portfolios
Trade Execution:
Responsible for trade entry and execution of equity trades
Has trading authorities as established in the Investment Guidelines
Operational & administrative support duties:
Assist in the management of data vendor and ETF manufacturer relationships
Track equity exposures across funds to ensure compliance of positioning as per internal policies.
Perform administrative duties including resolving specific share management issues with broker etc.
What you will bring:
Degree in business, economics, math, statistics or computer science.
Good understanding of financial statement analysis, valuation techniques and equity securities.
Strong technological skills: Bloomberg proficiency, high level of comfort with excel macros and advanced excel functions
2 to 3 years of investment experience with a focus on equity analysis.
