Job description

 

Job title: Safeguarding Clinical Trainer  

Band: 4

Location: Homebased

FTC: 6 months (potential to be made permanent)

Key purpose

The safeguarding trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering effective and engaging safeguarding training packages, to ensure that staff understand their obligations and how to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns as appropriate to their job role.

 

Key accountabilities

Developing and Designing Training:

  • To develop bespoke engaging and effective training materials, presentations and workshops aligned with relevant legislation, competencies (as describe in the intercollegiate documents) appropriate to job role and organisational policies, as agreed by the DSL that encourages good safeguarding practice

 

Deliver Training:

  • To deliver/facilitate interactive safeguarding training sessions both online and in-person as appropriate.

 

Maintain Knowledge:

  • Stay up to date on current safeguarding legislation, policies and best practice.

 

Evaluating Training:

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement based on feedback and evaluation.

 

Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead:

  • Work with the DSL to ensure that training is integrated into the service’s overall safeguarding framework.

 

Supporting Staff:

  • Be a point of contact for questions and concerns regarding safeguarding providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Liaise with the relevant delegated area safeguarding lead (DASL) or DSL regarding any safeguarding concerns emerging from training.

 

Collaborating with Stakeholders:

  • Working with the DSL and DASL’s and senior management to ensure comprehensive training.
  • Ensure that all attendance records are provided to the training manager.

 

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge, and qualifications

Registrant:

  • NMC/GMC/HCPC

 

Experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering safeguarding training including Level 3 (as specified in the intercollegiate documents)

 

Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding of relevant UK legislation, guidance and best practice in safeguarding.

 

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

 

Facilitation Skills:

  • Ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment, encouraging interaction and discussion.

 

Adaptability:

  • Ability to adapt training materials and delivery methods to meet the needs of different audiences.

 

Understanding of Trauma-Informed Approaches:

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed principles and their application to safeguarding training.

 

Organisational Skills:

  • Ability to manage training schedules, prepare materials, and track participant feedback.
