G. B. is a lovely gentleman in his sixties with a good sense of humour. Although he is slowing down he remains active and is looking for someone who can help him to be active and find fun things to do but who can also support him to have enough opportunities to rest and relax. G.B. does enjoy going out for coffee to McDonalds or Starbucks most days. There are times when G. B. can become confused and disoriented, he needs someone who can remain calm and be reassuring to help him through these situations. With this position it’s important to follow consistent routines so G.B. knows what to expect. G.B.’s sister is very involved in his life and a part of your role is to support their relationship and to also develop a good relationship with her.
Duties And Responsibilities
In addition to what is above in the highlights you will be helping to keep G.B.’s apartment clean and tidy and also cook him nutritious meals. You will also need to closely monitor G.B.’s health reporting any concerns to his sister and the program manager.

Driver's license (Class 5)
Preferred Training Or Experience
Excellent stress management skills.
Excellent communication skills

Previous experience supporting someone with dementia
Specific Training Or Experience Required
Supporting People who get anxious
Ability to motivate, encourage and engage the interests of others.
Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)
