What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Support the Financial Policy Analyst in maintaining the database for the Members and Caucus salary projection system.
  • Create and maintain a database of payroll reconciliation items and liaise with Human Resources to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Review all Members' expenditures to ensure compliance with Board-approved policies across various Members’ budgets.
  • Prepare journal entries to allocate salaries and benefits related to payroll reimbursements and employee charge-backs for Members, Caucuses, and Assembly Offices.

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

  • Liaise with Human Resources to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Communicate with Members’ offices, Constituency offices, Assembly, Caucus, and Commission offices to clarify expense claims and obtain supporting documentation or adjustments.
  • Offer suggestions to management for streamlining processes and enhancing customer service.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting activities, including monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts in the general ledger.

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Completion of a college diploma or degree in Business Administration, Accounting, and/or Public Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting, auditing, and payroll practices, along with proficiency in spreadsheet and accounting software applications. A combination of relevant education and at least three years of related work experience in accounting, finance, and/or payroll is considered equivalent.
  • Understanding of the unit’s specific activities, services, and programs, including awareness of Legislative Assembly year-end financial procedures such as payroll and financial cut-off dates.
