Job Summary
The planner works within the planning horizon create a production plan. The Planner plans finished goods inventory, and production of semi-finished inventory, for all SKUs within their assigned product families. The objective is to achieve the desired customer service levels, desired inventory coverage, and to facilitate optimum inventory turnover/cycle time. The Planner will create and issue production and packaging process orders based upon their plan.
The role is responsible and is the primary point of contact for API and Capsule shells supply planning for their assigned portfolio through the lifecycle of the product. This role is responsible for managing the dat-to-day supplier issues and to ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials to meet production needs, in accordance with Global Quality policies.
Job Responsibilities
The Planner is responsible, and is the primary point of contact, for supply related issues to their assigned products through the lifecycle of the product. Particularly from the point of Supply Plan creation to firm planning through to disposition (sale or disposal). On a daily basis the Planner must virtually follow their products through each step (eg. procurement, production, packaging, distribution, etc) to ensure activities occur as planned & take appropriate action for deviations, which is not limited to escalation
The Planner is responsible to prepare a 12 month Supply Plan for their assigned product families and to plan, execute & manage the materials ensuring continuous supply of materials through strategic planning
Create & issue POs for raw materials & POs for all levels of production & packaging, after performing any/all API/component inventory checks. POs must be issued within the appropriate timeframe as outlined in the S&OE Process. POs issued outside this cycle must be communicated to the business
Create & issue Stock Transport Orders (STO’s) for inter-plant material transfer within Apotex, & Purchase Requisitions and/or POs for procurement of semi finished and finished goods external to Apotex
Work with internal teams & suppliers to understand issues affecting raw materials supply continuity. This includes but not limited to changes in PO quantities & delivery dates, supplier driven changes, & quality issues. Communicate & escalate as appropriate. Update SAP to reflect these changes in a timely & accurate manner
Work with Procurement Hubs to obtain all supplier documentation. For example, supporting documents for material retests, SDCs & controlled substance importation process. Responsible for applying for import permits and communicating permit approvals to supplier
Maintain & update all applicable dates for Planned Orders within SAP to provide current Available-to-Promise (ATP) dates, at the appropriate plant. As required inform all applicable internal parties within Apotex when date changes impact internal & external customer service
Maintain & update as required all MRP related Material Master Data within SAP for assigned product families. Initiate the appropriate change process for all applicable master data changes related to GMP data. Perform an audit of master data according to a predefined cycle
Monitor inventory levels for all categories of material (eg. Blocked, Short-dated) & take appropriate action as required with the objective of achieving inventory targets with sufficient expiry dating in order to meet customer service requirements. Ensure timely disposal of rejected, expired, or otherwise obsolete product
The Planner is responsible to perform & present detailed & documented Demand/Supply analysis for any/all contentious product families & take appropriate action as needed, which is not limited to escalation
Perform as required inventory risk assessment on FG and/or WIP for potential disposal or propose to Demand Planning for review on reducing risk inventory
Collaborate as a team member to achieve all outcomes
Ensure personal adherence with all compliance programs including the Global Business Ethics & Compliance Program, Global Quality policies & procedures, Safety & Environment policies, & HR policie
All other relevant duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Education
Community College or University graduate in appropriate discipline
SCMP and/or CPIM certification considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of supply chain processes including the flow of materials and information
Experience with ERP concepts and application
Excellent organization and coordination skills
Strong and proven analytical skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks, short lead-times and adjust priorities in a professional manner
Ability to work independently or within an integrated team environment
Ability to perform situational root cause analysis and implement corrective action
Ability to chair meetings related to assigned projects
Customer focused
Proficient with Microsoft applications
Project management experience and proficiency
Experience
3 to 5 progressive years of experience in Pharmaceuticals or other Consumer Packaged goods
Previous Supply Planning background with emphasis on SAP
