Lower School Head Teacher - Grade 1

The Langley School, a Preschool-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a Lower School Head teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Guided by the theory and practice of the Responsive Classroom, our lower school head teachers focus on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child to create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which to learn. Lower school head teachers in grades one and two provide instruction in core content areas (math, reading/phonics, writing, and social studies). All lower school head teachers work collaboratively with special subject teachers in science, world languages, music, art, technology, library, and physical education to create integrated units of study.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education preferred
• Previous teaching experience required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort with integrating technology into the curriculum
• Interest in collaborating with colleagues
