About the Role:
The Director of Business Development & Provider Relations will lead the growth and optimization of Astrana Health’s provider network through strategic partnerships, market expansion, and value-based care alignment. This dual-role position requires a balance of outward-facing business development acumen and inward-facing provider relationship management expertise. You will drive the acquisition of new provider groups and ensure the long-term success of those relationships in alignment with Astrana’s population health and VBC objectives.

What You’ll Do
Provider Relations:
Serve as the strategic relationship lead for contracted providers post-acquisition to ensure alignment with Astrana’s care delivery and value-based performance standards.
Serving as a liaison between provider organizations and internal stakeholders in contracting, quality, analytics, and claims.
Develop engagement strategies to enhance provider satisfaction, retention, and performance in shared savings programs.
Conduct regular business reviews with providers to identify opportunities for improvement, education, and operational alignment.
Resolve provider escalations and act as liaison between network partners and internal departments.
Collaborate with leadership to scale provider engagement strategies tailored to multiple payors and models.
Business Development:
Identify, assess, and negotiate with independent physician associations (IPAs), medical groups, and health systems to join Astrana’s network.
Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives to expand Astrana’s provider network in targeted markets.
Identify, assess, and negotiate with independent physician associations (IPAs), medical groups, and health systems to join Astrana’s network.
Lead end-to-end deal management including prospecting, financial modeling, contract negotiations, and onboarding.
Supporting network expansion, contract implementation, and provider onboarding.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
8+ years in managed care, network development, or provider relations, with at least 3 years in leadership strategic role.
Deep understanding of Medicare Advantage, ACO REACH, and population health models.
Proven leadership skills, with experience coaching and developing cross-functional teams.
Financial and quality performance acumen, including RAF/HCC, MLR, Stars, and HEDIS.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
Experience creating tools, workflows, and team playbooks to scale operations.
Knowledge of Texas markets and healthcare delivery preferred.
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
Our organization follows an in-person work structure where the expectation is to work in office on a weekly basis. The office is located at 19500 HWY 249, Suite 570 Houston, TX 77070.
This position is a field position and requires traveling depending on assignments. or projects. This could be 25-30% of the time and also requires monthly visits to provider offices.
The total compensation target pay range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000 annually and represents our national target range for this role.
