Location: Wollongong, NSW | Full-Time | Immediate Start

Salary: $90,000-$100,000 + super

Join Birdblack Design, an award-winning interior design studio renowned for bespoke, high-end projects. We’re looking for an experienced, passionate leader to take the reins in a pivotal senior role that fuses creative direction, team leadership, business strategy, and on-site excellence.

As our Business Manager / Senior Interior Designer, you’ll shape projects from concept to completion, mentor a talented design team, and help drive the future of our nationally recognised studio — all while doing what you love most: delivering extraordinary, functional design. You’ll also play a key role in steering the business day-to-day — overseeing operations, finances, and team development — ensuring the studio runs smoothly, efficiently, and with creative excellence at its core.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and inspire a growing team of designers and creatives
  • Drive design excellence across all projects
  • Manage studio operations, client relationships, and business growth
  • Be the senior voice onsite, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards
  • Oversee business functions including budgeting, financial reporting, team resourcing, and process improvement to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations
  • Collaborate directly with the Founder to influence strategy and studio culture

What You Bring

  • 8+ years in interior design with 3+ years in a senior/leadership role
  • Creative confidence, business acumen, and strong leadership skills
  • Expert knowledge of design documentation, site management & supplier coordination
  • Passion for mentoring, process improvement, and elevating the design experience
  • Proven ability to manage studio operations — including budgeting, resourcing, and team workflows — with a strategic, solutions-focused mindset

Why Birdblack?

At Birdblack Design, You Won’t Just Be Another Cog In The Wheel — You'll Be a Driving Force In Shaping a Nationally Recognised Brand. Enjoy

  • A true leadership role where your ideas are heard, your expertise respected, and your impact tangible
  • The perfect blend of creative freedom and strategic influence without the pressures of business ownership
  • A supportive, tight-knit team culture that champions collaboration, innovation, and personal growth
  • Access to premium projects and clientele that will elevate your portfolio
  • The opportunity to work in a stunning coastal location — where lifestyle meets career satisfaction
  • Ongoing professional development and exposure to industry recognition through awards, publications, and media
