Position Summary:
 

The Master Scheduler/Vaccine (R&D) is a project management professional with proven integrated scheduling experience in the pharmaceutical development space. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating complex resource and cost-loaded program schedules and associated artifacts.


The ideal candidate has direct experience collaborating with program leaders, functional leaders, Finance, and funding partners to build, manage, and analyze Microsoft Project Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for pharmaceutical development programs. A deep understanding of integrated planning for multi-year development programs is essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities:


Functional Leadership: 

  • Evolve scheduling infrastructure, processes, and systems in support of robust, compliant, and effective Integrated Master Schedules which enhance project and program execution and control, scenario analysis, and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Partner with finance and other key functions to integrate monthly forecast and resource loading to support EVM compliance
  • Support proposal efforts through ensuring adherence to requirements and developing resource and cost loaded schedules, and associated modifications with high quality and in a timely manner

Schedule Development and Maintenance:

  • Using MS Project, build and maintain detailed multiple Integrated Master Schedules aligned with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and containing control accounts, work packages, and detailed activity sequences, durations, and resourcing
  • Generate actionable reports which facilitate cross-functional updates
  • Work collaboratively with consultants/contractors/partner project managers to incorporate schedule and resource updates alongside internally generated updates
  • Manage and ensure reporting requirements to funding partners and other stakeholders are met

Baseline Management: 

  • Establish and monitor critical path and key milestones, collaborating with program leaders to share real-time observations and pose solutions
  • Manage modifications through change control process

Monitoring and Analysis: 

  • Analyze schedule variances to identify issues and opportunities and propose plausible solutions to manage
  • Perform what-if scenario planning to assess impacts of potential changes
  • Routinely update IMS with actual progress and updated forecast to support calculated Earned Value metrics

Reporting and Communication:

  • Generate detailed reports highlighting performance and corrective action plans
  • Communicate schedule status and insights to program leaders 
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for schedule data 
  • Build and maintain detailed visual timelines which are refreshed at frequent intervals for internal and external communications
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree or PSP/EVP/PMP certification preferred
  • 7+ years relevant experience with at least a portion of that experience in the pharmaceutical or similar industry 
  • Expert level experience using MS Project and other Project Management tools
  • Advanced understanding of EVM theory, principles, and approaches
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and managing project plans with multiple partners and vendors 
  • Proven experience implementing monitoring and evaluation tools 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in core Microsoft 365 applications as well as Smartsheet and Office Timeline Pro+
  • Ability to work across the organization and build strong relationships with colleagues, managing their expectations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate complex information to a wide range of personnel
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, ability to manage complex tasks, highly organized, dependable and able to prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Ability to process information quickly and listen carefully to feedback and comments from staff and adapt plans/actions accordingly
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally with notice

Sabin’s philosophy is to ensure fair, unbiased, equitable, competitive compensation and benefits. Using benchmarking and salary survey data, the starting hourly salary for this position ranges from $77,000 - $140,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, certifications/degree. As a grant-funded organization, Sabin actively seeks funding for existing and new programs.
