Position Overview
The Manager, Global Benefits & Wellness is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive benefit and wellness programs for The Rockefeller Foundation’s employees and retirees. Reporting to the Director, Global Compensation and Benefits, this role partners closely with colleagues across Human Resources, regional offices, Finance, legal counsel (internal and external), brokers, consultants, and actuaries to ensure benefits strategies support the well-being of staff and align with the Foundation’s commitment to equity, care, and global impact.
Pay Range: $143,237- $168,764. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule and required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Strategy & Benefits Design
- Partner to shape and advance a global benefits strategy aligned with the Foundation’s mission and values.
- Own and manage all benefit and wellness programs for competitiveness, cost-efficiency, and workforce relevance.
- Benchmark benefits regularly to assess effectiveness and market competitiveness; recommend updates or new programs as needed.
- Plan and facilitate Benefit Committee meetings, providing insights into trends, strategy, and cost management.
- Oversee benefits renewals and open enrollment from planning to implementation.
Wellness & Employee Experience
- Design and manage a wellness program supporting employees’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being through assessments, webinars, fitness challenges, on-site events and educational resources.
- Create engaging communications strategies to promote benefits programs, including policy and guide updates and content for the HR Hub and Slack.
- Provide personalized support and guidance to employees and retirees on benefit matters, resolving complex matters with care and discretion.
- Oversee the employee recognition program, including policy and rewards.
- Manage and promote the charitable matching gift platform (Benevity), encouraging engagement.
Compliance & Vendor Management
- Ensure benefits programs comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including (but not limited to) ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and FMLA; proactively manage risk.
- Partner with brokers, legal counsel, and stakeholders to maintain compliance through annual filings, audits, amendments, and updated plan documents.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery and value; support vendor selection through due diligence.
- Oversee leave of absence and workers’ compensation processes to ensure compliance and care.
Education, Experience, And Skills
- Generally expected to have a minimum of 7 years of managerial experience in benefits administration, compliance, and wellness.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience supporting global benefits strategy and implementation.
- Extensive knowledge of benefits programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local benefits regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA).
- High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in handling sensitive data with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills; must be able to prioritize and manage project deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, understand trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus.
- Experience working in a foundation or non-profit organization a plus.
