The IT Specialist(s) will be responsible for a comprehensive range of IT functions to support the Department’s infrastructure. This includes Firewall Administration, Web Filter Administration, Server and Security Administration, Special Programs Support, Network Administration backup, and Workstation Support. A team of IT Specialists will collectively fulfill all duties listed below.
Firewall Administration
Manage Fortinet Firewalls
Role configuration and policy updates
Monitor firewall performance and logs
Web Filter Administration
Administer FortiGate Web Filtering
Conduct weekly audits and permission reviews
Apply software updates and perform health checks
Server Administration
Manage VMWare virtual environments
Administer Veeam for backup and disaster recovery
Oversee Dell Compellent/Powerstore storage systems
Perform quarterly patching, role updates, and storage provisioning
Security Administration
Maintain RADIUS and Active Directory services
Facilitate background clearance for State Law Enforcement Radio System access
Manage security access requests via Atlassian Jira
Oversee D5-ITS/TSMO user base security
Special Programs Administration
Support and provide first-level troubleshooting for the following systems:
Activu – Video wall control
Road Ranger Mobile App – Service patrol dispatch
iVDS – Remote camera viewing
SunGuide – Advanced Traveler Management
BlueMac – Bluetooth traffic data collection
MIMS – Maintenance Inventory Management System
ITS Facility Management – Field device tracking
SCCM / SCOM – Infrastructure and workstation management
SolarWinds – Network and infrastructure monitoring
Note: Any third-party or proprietary software added post-contract implementation will be treated as in-scope.
Network Administration (Backup Role)
Provide support for Extreme Networks (formerly Brocade) devices
Perform basic troubleshooting and complete assigned tasks during non-primary admin hours (typically Fridays, 8 AM – 5 PM)
Workstation Support
Set up and maintain user hardware
Provide direct user support and training
Maintain an inventory and a self-help wiki for end-users
