We are currently seeking to recruit Capability Managers and Subject Matter Experts.

Salary depending on the level of experience and the type of role, starting at £70,000-£90,000

The Rolls-Royce SMR, Development Engineering Function has four capability areas; Research & Technology, Verification and Validation, Test and Commissioning.

Reporting to the Chief Development Engineer, Function-based Capability Managers are a crucial part of ensuring Project delivery objectives can be met.

Responsible for people, processes & tools (for a given discipline) the Capability manager will ensure Project outcomes can be achieved in a lean and efficient way.

Leading a small team of dedicated capability engineers and subject matter experts the role requires a sound knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and a detailed knowledge of Verification & Validation tools, techniques and processes.

The primary purpose of the role is to define and execute how RR SMR will do Verification & Validation for all aspects of the product throughout the lifecycle.

Experience and skills we are looking for are:

  • Verification and Validation expertise
  • Development of Capability
  • Ability to influence others and strong communication skills
  • Systems Engineering experience
  • Ability to build Nuclear Safety Culture across the team and the business

Key outcomes for the role are:

  • Creation and implementation of efficient, integrated processes, methods, tools, standards and guidance that enable RR SMR objectives to be achieved.
  • Strategic resource planning (both internal & external) to meet business needs and priorities. Leading SQEP assessments & Talent reviews for their given capability.
  • People Leadership of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and/or Capability Engineers to ensure technical excellence across the Function, supporting Project delivery teams to ensure cost/quality/schedule requirements are met.
  • Ensuring technical quality, competency & safety requirements are met in the Development supply chain, resulting in zero harm and right first-time delivery.
