About Float

Float is on a mission to simplify finance for Canadian businesses, empowering them to eliminate complexity and unlock new opportunities. Through our innovative platform, Float enables businesses to streamline financial operations and optimize cash flow, so they can focus on what matters most: growth.

As one of Canada’s fastest growing companies and top-rated startups in 2024 and 2023, Float is customer-obsessed, passionate and entrepreneurial, with a team that includes leaders from Uber, Shopify, Top Hat, TouchBistro, and Ada.

At Float, everyone is an owner, bringing their unique perspective to our team and product. Your voice is important, and we take having a culture based on feedback seriously. We openly share our thoughts and differing opinions so we can continue to improve. We do our best to keep our decision-making decentralized so that all team members feel ownership in our success.

Our Product

Float is Canada's complete business finance platform, combining modern financial services and software to help businesses spend, save, and grow. Trusted by 4,000 Canadian companies, Float provides high-limit corporate cards, automated expense management, next-day bill payments, high-yield accounts and fast, friendly support—all built in Canada, for Canada. Float is backed by world-class venture and fintech investors, including Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and OMERS Ventures, partners behind our $70 million Series B raise.

Our team is a collection of ambitious, collaborative and mission-driven people from all walks of life but with one goal: helping Canadian companies not just survive but thrive. And we’re looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of business finance in Canada.

This is an 18 month contract, with potential to convert to a permanent position.

About The Director Of Growth Marketing Role

We’re hiring a strategic and results-driven Director of Growth Marketing to lead our demand generation efforts across both product-led and sales-led motions. This contract role (with strong potential to go permanent) will oversee acquisition strategy and execution across all channels, with full pipeline accountability and a clear mandate to drive measurable growth.

You’ll lead a high-performing team of 4–5, delivering full-funnel campaigns that create and capture demand for Float’s expanding suite of products. You’ll own revenue-driving initiatives—from brand to performance—and strike the right balance between experimentation and scalable execution.

You'll be directly accountable for meeting pipeline targets and supporting closed-won revenue through strategic marketing initiatives across channels. Success in this role means driving measurable growth: improved conversion rates, optimized CAC, increased MQL-to-SQL conversion, and acquisition across customer segments.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Full-funnel Strategy & Execution: Build and execute integrated marketing strategies that drive awareness, conversion, and revenue.
  • Channel Ownership: Oversee brand marketing, content marketing, performance marketing, field/event marketing, and account-based marketing initiatives to create cohesive customer experiences. Tailor tactics to the needs of small businesses and mid-market buyers.
  • Pipeline & Revenue Accountability: Own quarterly and annual pipeline targets. Deliver results across inbound and influenced revenue.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Partner with Sales, Product, and Finance to align marketing initiatives with company growth goals.
  • Marketing analytics & ops: Own the data and martech stack (Hubspot, Salesforce, GA4). Use insights to drive strategic pivots and optimizations.
  • Process Optimization: Strengthen internal processes and systems to improve efficiency as our integrated marketing function evolves.
  • Team development: Coach, mentor, and grow a high-performing, outcomes-focused team.

About You

Here’s what sets you up for success at Float:

  • You Put Customers First, Always. You care deeply about delivering meaningful value. Whether you're building internal systems or customer-facing features, you're always thinking about how to make life better for our users.
  • You Act Like an Owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, step up to challenges, and seek solutions proactively—doing what’s best for the business, not just your role.
  • You Think Big and Move Fast. You’re energized by building from 0 to 1. You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo, experiment quickly, and learn as you go.
  • You Constantly Learn and Grow. You’re hungry to improve your craft and open to feedback. You bring a growth mindset to everything you do.
  • You Raise the Bar. You care about doing things well and efficiently. You balance speed with rigor and always look for ways to improve how we work.
  • You Win as a Team. You’re a generous collaborator who values communication, context, and shared wins. You lift others up and help make the team stronger.

In addition to living our values...

  • You've got the experience: You bring 10+ years of experience in growth marketing, with 3–5 years leading teams. Experience in fintech, SaaS, or transaction-based models is a plus.
  • You're results-oriented: You have a track record of consistently meeting or exceeding pipeline and revenue targets while continuously optimizing performance metrics (CAC, MQL-to-SQL conversion, channel diversification, etc.).
  • You're data-driven: You have exceptional data analysis skills and can translate complex metrics into actionable insights that drive strategy. You're proficient with marketing technology platforms including Hubspot, Salesforce, and Google Analytics 4.
  • You're a growth accelerator: You’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly. You know when to test new approaches and when to double-down on proven tactics.
  • You're a true owner: You’re hands-on and are constantly seeking ways to raise the bar on what's possible. You’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly.
  • You know how to market to segments: You've successfully developed and implemented distinct marketing strategies for different buyer segments and know how to tailor your efforts to their unique buying behaviors.
  • You're a collaborative leader: You excel at cross-functional partnership and can effectively communicate marketing's value across the organization.
  • You thrive in ambiguity: You're comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and can adapt quickly as conditions change.
  • You understand how to market for different selling motions: You have experience supporting both product-led growth and sales-led acquisition strategies.

This may not be the role for you if…

  • You lack experience being accountable for pipeline or revenue targets
  • You prefer stability over rapid growth and constant change
  • You're uncomfortable balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution
  • You're uncomfortable with direct feedback and continuous optimization
  • You need well-established processes and systems to be effective
  • You prefer executing familiar playbooks rather than innovating new approaches
  • You’re not data-fluent or don’t tailor strategies based on insights
  • You don't enjoy team-building and people leadership
  • You struggle to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously

Why You Should Join

  • Work at one of Canada's fastest-growing fintech companies
  • Make a real impact in a high-autonomy, high-growth role
  • Collaborate with an ambitious and supportive team
  • Competitive compensation, equity options, and benefits

  • Enjoy catered team lunches every Tuesday and Wednesday
