Job Description

The Enterprise Consulting Group is an internal consulting function that supports the business in executing strategic priorities and resolving critical business issues in a sustainable, repeatable, and scalable way. The Sr. Principal, Enterprise Consulting Group will report to the Vice President, Enterprise Consulting Group and is responsible for leading the planning and execution of urgent, high-impact projects directly related to Blue Shield’s prime strategies. They partner with executive leaders to rapidly assess and develop recommendations to solve and improve critical key business problems and deploy systems, tools and infrastructure to hard wire and operationalize sustainable business solutions. Ultimately, these solutions drive improved performance and achievement of organizational outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct detailed assessment and development of recommendations to solve and improve critical key business problems and deploy systems, tools and infrastructure to hard wire and operationalize sustainable business solutions
  • Drive, or at times, support business owners in root cause analysis, creative solutioning and sustainable execution
  • Develop standardized processes, tools and frameworks that can be replicated for future work
  • Create and oversee project plans aligned with tangible near-term results and the company’s strategic goals and objectives. Tracking project progress and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Develop strategic roadmaps with actionable initiatives, milestones, KPIs and tangible results
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration meetings with the goal of achieving project success in a timely and effective manner
  • Conduct broad market research to identify best practices, benchmarks and to build deep industry knowledge
  • Build strong and sustainable trusting relationships with senior executives and at all levels of the organization, internally and externally, to partner together to deliver care worthy of our family and friends
  • Work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff and to bring together resources on a timely and organized basis
  • Work collaboratively in an influential manner to bring stakeholders together to ensure alignment of project objectives to enable execution
  • Demonstrate agile leader behaviors and process improvement focus to identify opportunities and execute business solutions to achieve outcomes
  • Provide regular status reporting to senior leadership on project status and outcomes
  • Facilitate the strategy, design, development, and alignment of the initiative business plan inclusive of goals and objectives to achieve it
  • Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and support ways to improve processes key to the Business Unit leader and their management team
  • Showcase strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence internal/ external constituents
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with all levels of leadership, influence change and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience. Master’s degree with an emphasis on healthcare or business preferred
  • Requires at least 5 years in health care industry with a preference for experience on the payor or provider side and a knowledge of core healthcare measures of success
  • At least 5 years of internal or external consulting experience, strongly preferred
  • Requires program/project design and management, business process management or improvement experience; Lean, Six Sigma, and PMP certifications a plus
  • Requires the ability to prioritize, manage, and influence work trade-offs against critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment, while building alignment and accountability with Executive leadership, without formal ownership or authority over talent resources
  • Requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate effectively at an executive level, with a keen attention to detail
  • Requires critical thinking and with the ability to handle complex situations and problems, utilizing data to drive decision-making

  • Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.
