Why This Role Is Important

We’re looking for a systems-minded Intermediate Product Designer to join the PC Financial Product Design team as the first dedicated contributor to our global design system. In this role, you’ll take the lead in establishing, designing, and documenting scalable UI components and patterns that support consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across our digital experience. While your primary focus will be on building the foundation of our design system, you’ll also collaborate with product teams to apply system thinking to real-world feature design and ensure the system evolves based on actual product needs. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a system from the ground up while contributing to the broader product experience.

What You'll Do

  • Design and evolve reusable components and patterns that for our public website, blog, marketing campaigns and authenticated experience, ensuring accessibility, flexibility, and consistency on all devices and platforms.
  • Apply a human-centered, iterative design-thinking process to frame problems, ideate solutions, and create impactful experiences.
  • Work closely with designers, product management and business stakeholders to understand their needs and co-design net-new components or patterns where necessary.
  • Test and iterate on component designs using feedback from real product use cases, usability testing, and internal design critiques.
  • Present and explain design concepts and solutions to team members and stakeholders, using clear rationale to support decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement high-quality, pixel-perfect, production ready components that balance design intent with technical feasibility.
  • Ensure designs adhere to AODA (A/AA) guidelines and inclusive design best practices.
  • Write and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation in the design system library, including usage guidance, edge cases, accessibility notes, and content considerations. This includes documentation for fellow designers as well as, marketing stakeholders.
  • Audit the current user experience and design files to identify inconsistencies or opportunities to improve cohesion via systemized solutions.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design across all aspects of the system.
  • Contribute to the overall evolution of our visual language and how it scales globally.
  • Participate in design critiques, system governance discussions, and community feedback loops to continually improve the system.
  • Support cross-functional UX/UI projects as needed, applying system thinking and design expertise to product teams working outside or adjacent to the design system. This may include contributing to product feature design, supporting teams in applying the system correctly, or helping bridge design system gaps during active development.
  • Develop user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes that ensure seamless and intuitive user experiences.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and methodologies to ensure high-quality design solutions.

What You Bring

  • 2-4 years of experience in product design, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong systems thinking and high-quality UI/UX craft.
  • Hands-on experience designing and/or contributing to a design system (components, tokens, documentation, etc.) in Figma.
  • Familiarity with design thinking methodologies and the ability to apply them to solve design challenges.
  • Strong UX and UI design skills including illustration ability, with proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Miro.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and being able to define problems, propose solutions, and communicate design decisions clearly.
  • Experience in Human-centric design methodology and design thinking process.
  • Experience conducting UX research (e.g., user interviews, usability testing) and analyzing data to inform designs.
  • Ability to balance the needs of a growing design system with the realities of fast-moving product work
  • Strong attention to detail, with a thoughtful approach to consistency, usability, and visual hierarchy.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • A passion for innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with component implementation and front-end development concepts is a plus
  • Previous design experience in banking, insurance, education experience
  • Experience supporting multi-brand or global products, or establishing new systems or processes from start to completion
