Key responsibilities:

  • Process requests for state licensure, hospital privileges, and insurance payer credentialing.
  • Conduct screenings including background checks and primary source verification of applicants' files.
  • Prepare credential files for presentation to contracted hospitals and assist with compliance expiration processes.
  • Maintain communication with travelers and internal teams regarding file status and escalate concerns appropriately.

Job description

Position summary:  The Credentialing Specialist provides a critical interface between candidates, clients, and the organization.  This position is required to complete various assigned tasks and ad hoc projects to support the company.

Qualifications required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of office experience

Qualifications desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • Prior experience in physician credentialing
  • Prior experience in a healthcare, staffing, or human resources environment
  • Prior work experience in a customer service industry

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Processes requests for state licensure, hospital privileges, insurance payer credentialing and any additional credentialing-related requests
  • Conducts screenings including background check and primary source verification of applicants’ files
  • Identifies and reports credentialing red flags proactively
  • Demonstrates understanding of all education requirements, certifications, verification sources, and compliance elements
  • Prepares credentials files for completion and presentation to VitalSolution contracted hospitals
  • Assists when needed with the compliance expiration process for all field staff
  • Evaluates physician demeanor and responsiveness during credentialing process and escalates concerns appropriately
  • Initiates, coordinates, and maintains communication with travelers and internal teams regarding file status
  • Performs additional duties as requested by management

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through use of the telephone and face to face contact
  • Must have the capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as but not limited to the computer, calculator, copier and fax machine
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time with low periods of reaching and standing

Compensation Range

$20.10 - $25.00
