Job Summary:
The Recruiting Partner, University Relations – Veterinary Technicians plays a key role in shaping Thrive Pet Healthcare’s externship and early-career strategy for veterinary technicians. This position combines campus engagement, externship coordination, and strategic program oversight. The ideal candidate will cultivate strong relationships with veterinary technician programs, manage externship placements, and support students transitioning into full-time roles within Thrive’s nationwide network.
Responsibilities:
Head (Strategy & Oversight)
Partner with Thrive’s legal team to manage externship agreements and contracts with educational institutions
Maintain and update program documentation and resources on SharePoint and other platforms.
Collaborate with recruiting teams to ensure externs have a clear path to full-time employment within Thrive.
Develop and monitor KPIs to evaluate program performance and success.
Lead student outreach through social media and marketing strategies to drive awareness and applications.
Heart (Relationship Management & Engagement)
Build and maintain strong relationships with veterinary technician schools, program directors, faculty, and career services teams.
Act as the primary point of contact for schools to ensure continuous engagement and collaboration.
Represent Thrive at career fairs, networking events, and both on-campus and virtual presentations.
Promote Thrive’s mission, values, externship opportunities, and career paths to students and alumni.
Execute campus strategies to increase brand visibility and student engagement.
Conduct direct outreach to promote externship and full-time opportunities.
Hands (Execution & Coordination)
Serve as the main contact for veterinary technician externship applicants, aligning placements with individual goals and preferences.
Coordinate with hospital teams to ensure clinic readiness and a positive externship experience.
Onboard and mentor new clinics participating in the externship program to ensure alignment with student expectations and academic requirements.
Track, analyze, and review externship surveys from students and mentors to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Key Qualifications:
Associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited program.
Active veterinary technician license required
1–2+ years of veterinary recruiting experience required
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a student- and client-focused approach.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Skilled with social media platforms related to talent acquisition—LinkedIn, Indeed—and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
