About the AU Senior Accountant Role

This isn’t just about numbers—it’s about making an impact through accuracy, insight, and trusted financial leadership . You’ll be a key player in preparing tax returns, reconciling financials, building rolling forecasts, and supporting clients with proactive, well-informed advice.

You’ll work closely with the firm’s directors and have the opportunity to truly own your space while helping SMEs grow with confidence and clarity.

Your Key Responsibilities: You know what needs to be done—here’s the breakdown:

Tax Returns & Compliance

Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and superfunds.
Reconcile GST accounts, ATO information, and BAS statements.
Prepare PAYG summaries, BAS, and IAS.
Conduct research on relevant tax legislation.
Create full tax plans for internal review.
Review superannuation reports and compliance.
Apply Division 7A knowledge and asset depreciation rules.
Communicate client obligations clearly and professionally.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare accurate financial and management reports.
Reconcile bank, loan, and balance sheet items.
Create trial balances and financial statements.
Assist with rolling forecasts and performance analysis.
Provide insights through break-even and variance analysis.
Identify red flags or improvement areas in client financials.
Support the finance function and daily operations for various clients.

About YOUR Work History

You have at least 5 years of experience in public practice or an accounting firm, and with solid hands-on exposure to Australian accounting in a supervisory or managerial role. You've managed multiple client accounts, performed well under pressure during peak lodgement periods, and consistently delivered accurate, high-quality work on time.

You know your way around:

Xero (especially Xero Workpapers).
Office 365 Suite.
Division 7A compliance.
Australian Tax Law & GST.
Confidentiality & professionalism like a true pro.
