WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Contribute direct code and implement application requirements while establishing best practices for other developers to follow. 

  • Establish architectural designs to address new features and operational efficiency. 

  • Implement proof of concepts and summarize high-level factors in reaching solutions. 

  • Present efforts to the department and Architecture Guild panel. 

  • Define detailed application requirements for more junior engineers and team members to implement. 

  • Work with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to prioritize and refine the development roadmap. 

  • Collaborate with other teams to help solve organization-wide efforts, acting as the Subject Matter Expert in all products and services owned by the team. 

  • Establish tooling and appropriate health checks to allow production systems to be monitored effectively. 

  • Conduct regular code reviews to maintain high degree of quality. Drive operational issue efforts and act as the primary technical resource in addressing their cause. 

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior members. 

  • 100% telecommute position reporting to San Diego, CA. 

WHAT YOU BRING TO TEALIUM

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.

  • 7 years of progressive post-Bachelor’s degree experience in software development.

  • Work experience to include:

  • 1. Seven years of programming experience in Java with an emphasis in concurrency.

  • 2. Four years of experience designing, implementing and managing high-traffic datastores at scale: DynamoDB, Redis, Hazelcast, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

  • 3. Three years of experience designing high-volume, low-latency cloud-scale enterprise software (100K+ events/sec, sub-50 millisecond processing times).  

  • 4. Three years of experience working with the following AWS services: EC2, Lambda, ElastiCache, Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, API Gateway, Kinesis, SQS, S3, and Route53.

  • 5. Three years of experience designing and implementing applications utilizing Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ and migrating different components from RabbitMQ to Kafka (Amazon MSK).

  • 6. One year of experience building performant applications with Quarkus.

  • 7. Working with Terraform and Kubernetes or Amazon EKS.

  • 8. Building high-traffic Jetty web applications (100 events/sec).

  • 9. Automating and refining observability and monitoring via DataDog and Sumo Logic.

  • 10. Working with data governance and compliance: GDPR and HIPAA.

  • 11. Mentoring less experienced developers and managing or providing technical leadership to a team of four or more engineers.

  • Any and all experience can be gained concurrently. 

WAGE TRANSPARENCY

The U.S. pay range for this full-time position is listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for a robust benefits package. Compensation Range - $177,154.00 to $181,000.00 per year
