We are looking for a Director, Business Operations, to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Business Operations, this strategic leadership role will be responsible for shaping the strategy and planning for the organization. Your focus will be to drive market development (de novo and inorganic) strategy and project management and establish quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to ensure short, medium and long-term goals are met. This position will also serve as an internal consultant, leading strategic cross-functional projects. This position will primarily collaborate with our executive, finance, and growth teams, and support other functions as needed.  

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning & Leadership:  
  • Inform and develop the company's long-term strategy and planning initiatives. 
  • Define, implement, and track quarterly OKRs to achieve medium and long-term company goals.    
  • Serve as an 'internal consultant' to drive process improvement and data-driven decision-making.    

  • Market Strategy & Expansion Playbook Development:  
  • Lead market prioritization analysis to refine and define our market prioritization framework in partnership with the Growth Team.    
  • Develop and own the go-to-market playbook for new markets (de novo or inorganic), outlining all trigger points, dependencies, and timing considerations.    
  • Formulate the strategy and playbook for clinic expansion, including how we approach adding subsequent clinics within a market.    
  • Oversee market activation and development management, ensuring all prerequisites across clinical hiring, real estate, and central operations are met for each market launch.    
  • Manage markets towards an officially "greenlit" status, ensuring appropriate team commitments once greenlit.

  • M&A / Acqui-hire Strategy & Due Diligence:  
  • Support the identification and evaluation of inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A and acqui-hires, in alignment with overall company strategy. 
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and other key stakeholders on due diligence efforts for potential acquisitions or acqui-hires. 
  • Lead operational due diligence, including assessing clinical model differences, evaluating organizational structures, and conducting leadership/talent assessments for potential targets. 
  • Develop frameworks in partnership with knownwell’s Integration Manager for role mapping and integration planning specific to talent and operational synergies in M&A/acqui-hire scenarios. 
  • Provide strategic input on deal structuring and negotiation from an operational and strategic fit perspective. 

  • Qualifications:
  • This role requires 6+ total years of experience and A) 2+ years in consulting, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital; B) 2+ years in a business operations or strategy at a healthcare provider or high-growth startup 
  • Experience in M&A / acqui-hire strategy and due diligence processes (including operational and talent assessment)  
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, market entry/expansion strategies, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).   
  • Proven track record in a high-growth startup environment, ideally with experience in a company that has scaled through Series A and beyond. 
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to break down complex issues, analyze data, and drive actionable insights.  
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with financial modeling, market analysis, and business case development.  
  • Ability to conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and opportunity assessment. 
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex, cross-functional projects and initiatives from concept to implementation with minimal guidance.  
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing executive leadership and stakeholders at all organizational levels.  
  • Deep understanding of business operations, process improvement methodologies, and project management best practices.  
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  
  • Self-starter with a proactive, results-oriented mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
