Job Description Summary

Penn Engineering Online is hiring part-time, remote Career Advisors to support adult learners—such as mid-career professionals, career changers, and international students—in advancing their careers in engineering and technology. Advisors will offer virtual career guidance, create career resources, and foster connections among students, alumni, and industry professionals. The role is well-suited for those with experience in career development, coaching, workforce development, or engineering, and is open to alumni of Penn Engineering Online. Advisors will contribute to an inclusive, impactful student experience by helping learners reach their professional goals.

Job Description

Penn Engineering Online is seeking passionate, learner-centered professionals to serve as part-time Career Advisors for our growing online programs. This is a unique opportunity to support highly motivated adult learners—many of whom are mid-career professionals, career changers, or international students—as they navigate the next step in their engineering and technology careers. You’ll play a key role in shaping a high-impact, inclusive student experience by helping learners achieve their goals and realize the full value of a Penn Engineering education.

Duties

  • Provide personalized virtual career advising to support students with job transitions, advancement strategies, resume reviews, mock interviews, networking strategies, and negotiation guidance. Tailor support to the needs of working professionals and adult learners. Maintain advising notes, track student interactions, and ensure timely follow-up using the CRM. Monitor engagement metrics and support continuous improvement of services based on usage patterns and student outcomes.
  • Create and maintain scalable tools such as resume templates, interview guides, asynchronous modules, and career planning worksheets. These resources will be designed to support learners across varied time zones and schedules.
  • Identify, onboard, and maintain relationships with Penn Engineering Online alumni to serve as mentors, panelists, and ambassadors. Facilitate opportunities for alumni to give back, share experiences, and support the professional growth of current students.
  • Organize and moderate virtual events, speaker series, industry highlights, and small-group networking sessions that connect students with employers, alumni, and industry leaders to explore roles, industries, and career paths relevant to engineering and technology.

Requirements

  • This flexible, remote-first role is ideal for professionals with experience in career development, coaching, workforce development, or engineering-related fields— we also welcome applications from alumni of Penn Engineering Online programs.
  • Proactive self starter with excellent project and time management skills
  • Ability to support diverse learners virtually and communicate effectively across cultures and career stages.
  • Experience with video conferencing (e.g., Zoom), scheduling tools, and digital resource creation.
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level. Internal organization and peer data at Penn are also considered.
