We're looking for an Audio Specialist!
What You'll Be Doing
The Audio Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned audio production, including live and recorded events, radio automation, sound reinforcement, podcast production, editing, and digital audio distribution. This role ensures high-quality audio across Buffalo Toronto Public Media's platforms and provides technical support and guidance for internal teams. The Audio Specialist plays a key role in both real-time audio management and post-production, ensuring seamless delivery across radio, digital, and social media channels. This position is full-time with hybrid permitted. In summary, this individual will:
Manage and facilitate live and recorded radio operations across TV, radio, digital platforms, and virtual events
Operate and maintain radio automation systems (e.g., DAD) and ensure smooth scheduling; handle online and satellite recordings to support programming needs
Ensure quality control standards for all audio-related productions; edit and package digital audio content for radio, streaming, social media, and mobile apps
Record and produce voiceovers, underwriting spots, and promotional audio with cross-department collaboration
Prepare and operate presentation tools and provide on-site support for live and hybrid meetings
Operate live audio mixing consoles in event spaces
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to audio recording, editing, and live production
What You'll Need
Minimum of:
Associate degree in audio engineering, production, sound design or a related field plus two (2) years of related experience; or
Bachelor degree in an above field with one (1) year of related experience; or
Four (4) years of related experience in lieu of degree
Proficiency in digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools
Experience with radio automation software (e.g., DAD, ENCO, or similar)
Strong knowledge of live sound production and reinforcement techniques
Ability to troubleshoot technical audio issues in live and recorded settings
Strong editing skills for broadcast and digital platforms
Familiarity with podcast production workflows and distribution methods
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office
Valid driver's license for occasional travel including international travel to Canada
Experience in public media or a similar broadcast environment a plus
Knowledge of streaming and social media audio optimization a plus
Experience coaching voice talent for recording session preferred

Salary And Benefits
This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position and starting pay will be based on education, experience and interview. Starting range: $19.33-$24.16.
