Catholic Eldercare is seeking a
Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant collaborates with the Controller in general accounting tasks, accounts receivable and collections, financial and regulatory reporting, and similar duties.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a small team and be involved in a broad range of responsibilities in accounting, the business office, and interacting with residents and families.
Schedule: This is a full time exempt position, working M-F during business hours. WORKING ON-SITE in Minneapolis for more at least 60% of the time. Candidates MUST live in Minnesota.

Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant will:
- Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.
- Guide accounts receivable function, including cash application, reviewing aging, and pursuing collection efforts.
- Back up accounts payable staff with invoice entry and payment processing.
- Support Controller with annual budgeting, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting requirements, including the financial statement audit, Medicaid and Medicare cost report, HUD financial and budget submissions, payroll taxes, and sales tax.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls according to regulations and management policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents and family members in sensitive financial situations.
- Assist a wide variety of stakeholders in a nursing home setting with frequent interruptions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or beyond) in Accounting
- 4-5 years of relevant progressive Accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and financial reporting
- Highly proficient with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred, but not required)
- Highly proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Continuous improvement mindset with proven process development experience.
- Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Curiosity to research and strategically resolve a wide variety of problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP migration and implementation.
- Collection of Accounts Receivables.
- Experience in Senior Living or Healthcare.
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and County Waivers reimbursements.
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 per year, exempt, depending on qualifications. 40 hours per week, may require additional hours during month-end or other peak times. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is a part of the Business Office.
In-person or hybrid work arrangements possible (2 days remote, 3 days on-site, after training). Hybrid employees must reside in MN.
