Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer or a Branch Chief of Maintenance Engineering, the Transportation Engineer (Civil) is responsible for the District TBMP (treatment best management practice) inspection program, maintenance and improvement of TBMP database, process improvement, and HM-233/TBMP Major Maintenance. Serves as the Technical Advisor and Program Coordinator for the TBMP Inspection Program HM-233/TBMP. Works closely with HQ and other programs in the District to meet the program's objectives and requirements. This position requires travel district wide and occasionally statewide. Monitors, tracks, evaluates activities, and projects, makes special reports and investigations and provides recommendations with regard to the program element requirements.

Supervision is general in nature, but of sufficient depth to assure satisfactory performance of assigned duties. The incumbent may be required to work overtime, work irregular shifts/alternate work schedules including nights, holidays and weekends; may be required to respond to emergency situations and calls.

Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.   • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.

  • Share your experience in reviewing drainage improvement contract plans; hydraulic studies and drainage reports; storm water data reports (SWDR); field review of drainage facilities and investigation of Maintenance referrals and complaints.
  • Describe a complex problem you’ve either encountered in your academic, internship or professional experiences. How did you identify root causes, prioritize and implement solutions.
