About Our Client
Our client is a well-established healthcare system seeking two Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialists to support their inpatient documentation processes. This role is part of an expanding CDI initiative following an organizational restructure. While prior CDI experience is preferred, the team is open to candidates with strong clinical backgrounds and a willingness to learn.
Job Description
The CDI Specialist will be responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records to ensure accurate and complete documentation. This role plays a key part in supporting severity of illness, risk adjustment, and accurate DRG assignment by engaging with physicians and care teams.
Key Responsibilities
Review inpatient charts to ensure appropriate clinical documentation is present for coding and reimbursement accuracy
Communicate with physicians and other clinical staff to clarify documentation
Achieve daily production goals of approximately 25 chart reviews per day
Maintain a 40% query rate aligned with program standards
Participate in biannual CDI assessments to stay updated on best practices
Work with multiple EMR platforms, including Cerner, Epic, and 3M 360
Qualifications
Active RN license required (BSN or international MDS equivalent strongly preferred)
1–2+ years of inpatient clinical experience
CDI certifications (CCDS, CDIP, CCS) are a plus
Strong knowledge of MS-DRG structure and Medicare guidelines
Technologically proficient and able to manage multiple systems simultaneously
Strong communication, critical thinking, and time management skills

Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite/week; equipment provided
