Job description

 
Basic Function

Responsible for analyzing large PI and API datsets to extract valuable insights, develop predictive models, and support data driven decision making processes.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Owns and drives the innovation through digitalization and technology adoption.
  • Supports the build of infrastructure needed for the next evolution digital transformation for refining.
  • Provides analytics support to aid in achieving refinery objectives through out the fleet function.
  • Partners with sites and corporate team members on digital innovation efforts and lead efforts.
  • Educate and train others how to find and utilize data.  Build capability fleetwide. 
  • Transition Proof of Concepts (POCs) into Sustainable work processes and tools.
  • Collects, cleans and preprocess data from various sources.
  • Develops and implements machine learning models to solve business problems.
  • Performs exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Create visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies.
  • Consult cross functional teams on best practices for leveraging data for increased value creation.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

A minimum of 5 years experience as a data scientist and 1 year refining experience.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Oil and Gas industry experience is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a four-year degree is required.

Required Skills
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, R and SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks, such as Yolo for imaging recognition.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power Bi.

Work Conditions

Office-based with up to 25% travel by land or air is required. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasional long hours, as well as nights and weekends as needed.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceiving color differences,  required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted).  Job conditions may require making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
