Job description

Location: Germany

Department: Sales

Job type: Permanent

Are you an inspiring sales leader with a proven track record in the pharmaceutical industry? Do you have the strategic vision and people leadership skills to drive commercial success and coach high-performing teams?

If so, this could be your next career move.

We are seeking a Sales Lead to head our German Key Account Manager (KAM) Team and play a central role in shaping and executing our national sales strategy. Reporting directly into the German Country Lead and working as part of the local management team, this role offers high visibility and real impact.

What You’ll Do
As Sales Lead Germany, you will be responsible for driving commercial success through strategic leadership, operational excellence, and people development.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute the national sales strategy, fully aligned with the global Commercial Excellence framework. You will oversee territory design, set performance goals and quotas, and ensure consistent delivery of sales objectives across brands and regions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the KAM team to achieve high levels of engagement, accountability, and performance. You will provide clear direction, foster a culture of collaboration and integrity, and identify development needs to enhance in-call performance and customer engagement.
  • Monitor market dynamics and customer trends, translate insights into actionable strategic plans, and provide data-driven recommendations to the Country Lead Germany.
  • Regularly engage in field visits to support team development and assess in-call performance. You will use these insights to guide learning needs analyses and shape targeted training interventions.
  • Design and manage the Local Sales Incentive Program, ensuring full alignment with the Global Sales Incentive Program (GSIP). This includes developing compensation structures based on KPIs, accelerators, and performance metrics, as well as ensuring transparency and buy-in from the field force through clear communication and training.
  • Oversee the national sales budget, including promotional spending and resource allocation, to maximize return on investment. You will collaborate closely with the Country Lead and functional heads to set realistic sales forecasts and drive strategic planning.
  • Ensure accurate and effective CRM usage (Veeva) by the KAM team, promoting full adoption and leveraging the system to generate actionable insights, optimize coverage, and support reporting and planning.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and serve as a key interface between Sales, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, and other stakeholders. You will contribute to the evolution of the customer engagement and omnichannel strategy, ensuring KAMs are equipped with the right tools and messages.
  • Champion patient centricity, embedding this mindset into all sales activities and ensuring that customer engagement is aligned with patient needs and outcomes.
  • Uphold compliance and ethical standards, ensuring that all activities follow internal policies, industry codes of conduct, and applicable legislation.

What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a leader who brings both commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business-related field is required; an advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical sales management, ideally across multiple therapeutic areas, with a solid grasp of the German healthcare system, including drug prescription and distribution processes.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams in a results-driven and compliant environment.
  • Expertise in sales force effectiveness, including territory management, incentive program design, and the ability to translate global strategies into local execution with impact.
  • Strong experience in sales compensation planning and the design and implementation of performance-based incentive schemes.
  • A strategic thinker with strong analytical and business planning skills, capable of drawing insights from data to shape decisions and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust across functions and at all organizational levels—regardless of reporting lines.
  • Tech-savvy with a solid command of CRM tools such as Veeva, and a mindset for using digital solutions and omnichannel tools to improve performance and customer experience.
  • A customer and patient-centric mindset, with the ability to integrate insights into action plans that create real value for both stakeholders and patients.
  • Excellent communicator in both German and English, with a strong ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and a global mindset.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a growing, agile pharmaceutical company with a patient-first culture.
  • Work at the heart of strategic decisions, influencing national and regional growth.
  • Collaborate with a committed, cross-functional leadership team.
  • Attractive compensation and development opportunities.
