Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and enter into computer estimating system, review computer reports for accuracy and completeness.
Request quotes from suppliers for materials and equipment.
Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with established plans and specifications.
Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including subcontract work, equipment rentals, tools and suppliers.
Prior to the issuing of formal bid packages, provide principles a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.
Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimate figures.
Communicate with suppliers on material forecasting and delivery schedule requirements
Ability to travel as needed
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
Detailed – ability to demonstrate patience and determination to generate consistently exceptional and standardized work product without errors
Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze available options of price, quality, service, and delivery certainty
Organization skills – strong organization skills to create and manage multiple document scopes concurrently while maintaining accuracy
Time management – ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure most critical deadlines are met
Teamwork – ability to work closely with other departments and external partners while maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor
Communication skills – ability to build relationships by effectively communicating with supervisors, co- workers, and external partners
Computer knowledge – Proficient, if not advanced, in Word, Excel, pdf modification, and Outlook, Accubid and other estimating software platforms
Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners
Sense of urgency – ability to stress urgency for internal and external partners to meet deadlines
Problem Solver – Ability to think of creative solutions to reduce cost and/or meet schedule
High School Diploma or GED
Three – five years energy storage estimating experience.
Experience with Accubid estimating software.
Ability to understand substation, transmission and switchyard, energy storage and electrical design and components, their purpose and use
Ability to keyboard 50-60 wpm accurately
Word processing and/or data entry skills
Proficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
Reliability, dependability and flexibility
General understanding of construction cost estimates
Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
