Job Overview
Overseeing and coordinating all on-site activities related to the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of Cryogenic Air Separation Plants (ASUs) and Cryogenic storage & pumping and piping systems. Position will require extensive international travel to supervise and support field service activities, ensuring the successful operation of ASUs and other cryogenic equipment and providing quality customer service to our clients. In addition to on-site responsibilities, the Field Service Engineer will also be responsible for commissioning and field service proposal, invoices, and payment processes, as well as planning commissioning and field service activities. They will follow established departmental processes, and ensure quality control before shipment of the skids. The Field Service engineer will also play a key role in developing and approving Operations and Maintenance Manuals (OMM) and commissioning documents. Furthermore, this role will involve providing remote support and coordinating field service activities when required.
Responsibilities
Supervise On-Site Activities: Lead and manage a team of field service technicians during the installation, commissioning, and performance testing of Cryogenic Air Separation Plants at various international locations.
Troubleshooting and Process Optimization: Provide expert troubleshooting skills and process optimization knowledge to resolve operational issues and enhance the efficiency of existing plants on-site.
Personnel Training: Conduct training sessions for plant operators and maintenance personnel to ensure they are proficient in operating and maintaining the ASUs.
Remote Support: Offer remote technical support to field service technicians and clients for troubleshooting and process optimization when necessary.
Turboexpander Installation and Setup: Oversee the removal and installation, setup, and calibration of ACD/ALTD turboexpanders, including lubrication and seal gas systems, to guarantee smooth operation and adherence to safety standards.
Extensive Travel: Will need to travel extensively internationally, spending significant time on-site at various locations (duration of travel may vary depending on project demands).
Office Tasks: Handle various office tasks related to field service, including remote support, client correspondence, preparation of operations & maintenance manuals, invoicing, and managing spare inventories.
Commissioning and Field Service Proposal, Invoices, and Payment: Facilitate the process of preparing commissioning and field service proposals, handling invoices, and overseeing payment transactions.
Planning and Management: Develop and execute comprehensive plans for commissioning and field service activities, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely project completion.
Establish Departmental Processes: Develop and implement standard operating procedures and best practices for the field service department to streamline operations and ensure consistency in service delivery.
Quality Control: Conduct rigorous quality control checks and inspections before the shipment of skids and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
OMM and Commissioning Documents: Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and approve Operations and Maintenance Manuals (OMM) and commissioning documents to provide comprehensive guidelines for plant operation and maintenance.
Remote Support & Field Service Coordination: Coordinate and provide remote support for field service technicians and ensure efficient communication and collaboration between on-site and off-site teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proven practical experience in commissioning and start-up of Cryogenic Air Separation Plants (ASUs) with in-depth knowledge of cryogenic air separation processes.
Basic knowledge of instrumentation, including calibration, troubleshooting, and setup.
Familiarity with turboexpander installation and setup of lubrication and seal gas systems is a plus.
Mechanical and electrical knowledge applicable to commissioning complex process plants.
Basic understanding of PLC control systems and the ability to troubleshoot basic electrical issues.
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to coordinate and supervise on-site activities effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, technicians, and various stakeholders.
Willingness to adapt to a dynamic work environment with changing priorities and travel demands.
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
