Job description

The Vacancy

RSK has an exciting opportunity for a Drawing Office Team Leader in the RSK Geosciences business. RSK Geosciences comprises over 300 technical staff split over 21 regional offices across the UK. We provide Surveying, Geophysical, Geotechnical and Geo-environmental consultancy to support our clients in a wide range of sectors including property and construction, civil engineering, oil and gas, nuclear, renewable energy and the public sector.

We are now looking to recruit a Drawing Office Team Leader full time in one of our RSK Geosciences regional offices. The applicant would be responsible for managing the team of CAD and GIS drawing technicians, producing drawings and designs for the Geoscience project teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of CAD and GIS drawing technicians, providing technical guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee the production and quality assurance of engineering drawings, plans, and spatial data.
  • Allocate workloads, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of projects and tasks.
  • Develop and enforce CAD and GIS standards, templates, and best practices across the organisation including building toward BIM Level 2 standard.
  • Manage data licencing for drawing production and spatial data from different sources.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose outputs.
  • Ensure data integrity, version control, and compliance with internal and industry standards.
  • Manage software licences, upgrades, and liaise with IT or vendors on technical issues or improvements.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives and the integration of CAD and GIS technologies.
  • Produce reports and documentation to support audits and project delivery
  • Maintain and develop technical capability through CPD, attending internal and external seminars where relevant.


Person specification:

  • Proven experience in CAD and ideally GIS roles, preferably with team leadership or management responsibility.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and ideally GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Training in GIS is available, but a strong desire to learn is essential, if the candidates experience is limited.
  • Strong understanding of spatial data management, engineering drawing standards, and digital workflows.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player with an energetic outlook that motivates others.
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Effective communication skills.


Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, or related discipline.
  • Experience in the geosciences sector.
  • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes and software.
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g., SQL), asset management systems, or mobile GIS solutions.
  • Knowledge of REVIT and managing / interpreting point cloud data.
  • Photogrammetry to produce 3d models.
