Business Development Manager Job Description

As the Business Development Manager, your primary responsibility is to drive top of funnel whitespace growth for the commercial organization through prospecting, stakeholder meeting set-up and facilitation, top-of-funnel awareness, and pipeline acceleration.

Responsibilities:

  • You’ll think strategically to plan and prioritize your target accounts, and messaging to different market segments and buyer personas to pursue new business opportunities
  • Prospect and develop new business relationships creating a pipeline of targeted and qualified sales prospects through inbound and outbound cold calling and networking
  • Identify client’s needs, including budget, buyer roles, decision making process, timelines, and contracts and communicate this with internal partners prior to stakeholder meetings
  • Set and ensure completion of high-quality stakeholder meetings, with the prospect and our sales team, that progress to the sales pipeline
  • You'll think critically and collaborate with teammates and leadership to create, experiment and build best practices & playbooks for prospect engagement and meeting conversion
  • Coordinate with marketing leadership to ensure targets/metrics are being met or exceeded
  • Partner with sales to create cohesiveness and drive strong alignment in targeting prospects
  • You’ll streamline and refine lead qualification, resulting in an efficient sales pipeline
  • Maintain all prospecting and account activity in HubSpot CRM
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent verbal skills to speak clearly, confidently, and professionally and writing skills to be able to write clearly and succinctly, to craft tailored messages that resonate with senior level prospects
  • Comfortable with email, on camera, and the phone as you connect with potential customers across multiple platforms
  • Highly effective organizational skills to implement a variety of programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
  • Experience in B2B business development or sales, with healthcare or pharma preferred
  • Ability to travel
