Requirements

What You'll Do

  • Research, report, and write accurate and engaging news stories for Intelligent Insurer and other Newton Media titles.
  • Edit press releases and reports to align with our editorial style and tone.
  • Develop sector knowledge, build sources, and increasingly deliver original, exclusive content.
  • Upload stories daily or when required to multiple websites using our content management system.
  • Assist in the design and distribution of daily and event-based newsletters.
  • Source, resize, and design images (using Canva or similar) to accompany online content.
  • Stay up to date with event details and ensure timely updates to the website.
  • Collaborate with editors to ensure smooth uploading of publications and magazines to the website.
  • Apply appropriate SEO tags, keywords, and metadata to maximise digital reach.

What you'll need

  • 3–5 years’ newsroom or reporting experience (B2B, financial, or insurance journalism = a strong advantage).
  • Fast, clean and accurate writing skills.
  • Confidence in transforming press releases and raw news into engaging stories.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and digital publishing knowledge (WordPress, SEO, CMS tools).
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, basic analytics platforms and Canva (or similar).
  • Stellar organisational and communication skills — and the ability to thrive under deadline pressure.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to editorial integrity

This role is not for you if:

  • You’re unfamiliar with journalism best practices or lack newsroom experience.
  • You’re looking for part-time or short-term freelance work, this is a full-time role.

  • Open to feedback and committed to growth.
  • Able to take initiative and own their beat.
  • Curious, driven, and serious about journalism.
