Guardian is searching for the newest member of our Operations Excellence Group as a Regional Thin Films/Vacuum Coating Subject Matter Expert. This position is located at our Guardian Ras Al-Khaimah, UAE plant or Saudi Guardian GulfGuard (Al Jubail, KSA) plant. The selected individual is responsible for ensuring that our coaters within the Middle East and India are operating to the designed parameters, supporting teams execute to our Proven Practices and incorporating technologies that improve, quality, performance and provide us a competitive advantage in the marketplace. The ideal candidate is an organized professional with excellent analytical and communication skills.

What You Will Do
Sustain and build upon our Vacuum Coating Processes by:
Leading complex projects in a team-based environment taking advantage of your excellent relationship building and communication skills.
Developing and deploying Proven Practices for operating and running our vacuum coaters
Train Optical Thin Film Engineers to optimally set-up and run coating processes
Documenting standard operating procedures, training guidelines, and “what if” scenarios
Improving, quality, performance and throughput of vacuum coaters in the region.
Engaging sites (remotely and onsite) to overcome production challenges and support the execution of a disciplined process of problem solving.
Advocate for knowledge sharing within the region and collaborate with global capabilities to ensure the best knowledge and resources are available to support the region
Seek opportunities to learn from the market and bring outside perceptions, best practices and opportunities that will improve Guardian’s process technology capability
Advancing/deepening the underlying knowledge of our products and production processes technologies
Clearly presenting and communicating ideas, concepts, and plans across multiple levels thought the region
Working in multi-cultural and functional teams globally
Collaborating in a matrixed organization working with Global Operations on new thin film process technology, product launches, product transfers and process improvement initiatives.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelors in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Ceramic Engineering, or one of the Engineering disciplines.
5 years’ experience in Optical Thin Film technologies and vacuum related technologies focusing on reactive magnetron sputtering process.
3 years’ experience in operating large area vacuum coaters in a 24x7 environment.
Ability to travel 30% (UAE, KSA, India)
Experience contributing to complex projects, analyze problems, and developing corrective actions
Experience with sputtering processes for solar, semiconductor and/or architectural coated glass industries
What Will Put You Ahead
Master’s Degree in Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Ceramic Engineering, Physics, or one of the Engineering disciplines.
7 years’ experience in Optical Thin Film technologies and vacuum related technologies focusing on reactive magnetron sputtering process.
5 years’ experience in operating large area vacuum coaters in a 24x7 environment.
Experience leading a group of engineers, scientists and technicians.
Experience with experimental design and statistics
Familiarity with thin film optical materials and thin film characterization techniques such as Auger, XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM and XRD.
Experience with thin film optical coating and associated tools (TF Calc, Optilayer, Essential McLeod, Ellipsometer or other thin film modelling packages)
Experience using QC Lab equipment including Profilometer, Hunter Pro, Perkin Elmer, chemical and optical coatings durability testing
Experience conducting design and process failure modes and effects analysis
Experience and/or proven knowledge of the Stage Gate process or proven process/ product development framework
