Position Overview

Director, Medical Science Liaison is responsible for organizing, aligning, and leading the Adaptive Field Medical Team, including the Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).  Leads the MSL Team to provide medical information, research, and educational support to KOLs, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, payers, and other key stakeholders. Supports the clinical community in understanding the use of Adaptive's diagnostic products. Also responsible for providing oversight of all activities in accordance with current regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines. This role oversees priorities and development of the Field Team to support medical activities consistent with business imperatives, and works closely with the medical affairs team to ensure customer informational needs are met.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Lead the creation of field strategies for the MSL team.
  • Develop annual MSL staffing plans and team goals and objectives in collaboration with Senior Director, Field Medical.
  • Implement and oversee MSL team priorities to support medical activities consistent with field medical and business strategic imperatives.
  • Provide oversight responsibility for the team’s training and development.
  • Observe, coach and mentor the MSL team.
  • Work closely with Medical Affairs and Commercial teams to ensure that the informational needs of customers are met, including support for customer facing materials and other MSL resources.
  • Ensure timely collection and communication of medical insights to key stakeholders to inform overall strategy.
  • Close strategic and tactical alignment with payer, clinical services, and commercial field-based teams to ensure appropriate medical support.
  • Promote effective compliant collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners in clinical development, medical affairs, and clinical operations in support of research activities, including clinical trials, registries, ISTs, and/or RWE.
  • Lead and manage project work related to Field Medical activities including participation in initiatives related to scientific and strategic objectives, collaborating with other functional teams, and helping to realize team efficiencies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)

Required

  • Doctorate-level degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DNP) or Advanced professional degree with significant clinically relevant experience (PA, NP) required + 8 years of related experience.
  • 4 + years of supervisory experience
  • Existing relationships with NCI institution
  • Demonstrated experience with US cooperative groups clinical trials.
  • Expertise with regulatory guidance and reporting requirements
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong presentations skills including excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe®

Preferred

  • Oncology or hematologic experience

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • No preference on location but due to travel, high preference to be located near major airport

Compensation

Salary Range: $204,300 - $306,500

Other compensation elements include:

  • equity grant
  • bonus eligible
  • transportation reimbursement

Adaptive’s posted compensation information includes a base salary (or hourly rate) range and summary of other available total compensation. The base salary range represents a minimum-to-maximum salary (or hourly rate) available to candidates upon extension of offer. Base salary is thoughtfully considered upon offer and is determined through multiple evaluation checks throughout the interview process, including: a candidate’s ability to meet minimum qualifications (skills/experience/education), a candidate’s ability to thoughtfully address preferred qualifications, current market conditions, and internal pay equity. Listed base salary is exclusive of bonus, commission, equity, differential pay, benefits, and other incentives.
