Senior Manager Communications

Join ServiceMaster Brands as the Senior Manager, Communications for ServiceMaster Restore® and ServiceMaster Clean®, where you will be instrumental in shaping communication and engagement strategies for our valued franchise networks and leading critical change management efforts. As a vital part of our centralized communications function, you will be a trusted strategic advisor to both business units, responsible for the full lifecycle of North American communication activities – from visionary strategy to impactful execution and measurement across all relevant channels. Collaboration will be key as you partner with colleagues across functions and the broader team of ServiceMaster Brands communications professionals.

What you will do:

  • Partner strategically with ServiceMaster Restore and ServiceMaster Clean leadership to craft and implement forward-thinking communication strategies and provide expert guidance on all communication-related topics.
  • Drive franchisee engagement and satisfaction by developing and executing strategic communication plans that support the growth initiatives of both business units.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of impactful communication strategies and content, including: 
    • Executive communications for the Business Unit President (internal and external)
    • Engaging communications for our franchise network
    • Effective change management strategies and plans for franchisee-focused projects
    • Proactive communication and change management initiatives designed to build stronger franchisee relationships
  • Contribute actively as a member of the business unit leadership team and participate in Franchise Council meetings.
  • Develop compelling and influential executive communications and presentations.
  • Offer support for crisis communication situations as they arise.
  • Champion consistent and efficient communication by strategically leveraging tools, technology, and expertise to identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Establish and manage a robust measurement process to evaluate communication effectiveness, translating data into key insights and actionable plans.

 

What you will bring:
 

  • Strategic Communication Planning: The ability to develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with organizational goals, target audiences, and desired outcomes. This includes defining objectives, identifying key messages, and selecting appropriate channels.
  • Understanding of Business Goals: Knowledge of the organization's overall objectives, industry trends, and competitive landscape to ensure communication efforts support business priorities.
  • Change Management Communication: Understanding the principles of change management and how to communicate effectively to support organizational transitions and minimize resistance.
  • Measurement and Evaluation: Knowledge of how to set measurable communication objectives, track progress, analyze data, and evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives using various metrics and tools.
  • Excellent Writing and Editing Skills: Ability to craft clear, concise, compelling, and audience-appropriate content across various formats (press releases, website copy, social media posts, internal memos, speeches, presentations, etc.). Strong grammar, punctuation, and style are essential.
  • Digital Communication Proficiency: Deep understanding of digital communication channels (social media, email marketing, websites, blogs, intranets) and best practices for each. This includes content creation, SEO basics, and analytics.
  • Internal Communications Expertise: Knowledge of strategies and tactics to effectively communicate with employees, fostering engagement, alignment, and a positive internal culture.
  • Visual Communication Basics: Understanding the principles of visual design and the ability to work with designers or create basic visuals to enhance communication.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and execute communication projects effectively, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (leadership, different departments), external partners, and media contacts.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
  • Active Listening: Ability to listen attentively to understand different perspectives and tailor communication accordingly.
  • Adaptability & Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, new technologies, and evolving communication trends.
  • Technology and Tools: Proficiency in using various communication technologies and software (e.g., social media management platforms, email marketing tools, content management systems, media monitoring services)
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or other related field required; master’s degree is a plus
  • 6-10 years of experience required
  • Franchise experience is preferred

Work Location: 

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S., excluding Los Angeles County

Compensation Details:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At ServiceMaster, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range offered starts at $112,000 plus incentive.
