Job Description:
The Senior Product Manager of Audience Segments is accountable for creating, communicating, and executing a data product strategy and roadmap that maintains, refines, and grows our Audience Segments for our Advertising Technology and Activation business. Critical to the role will be the ability to distinguish between the signal and the noise, both from outside and within the business, to focus on opportunities and problems that have the most business impact and deprioritize those that don’t. This role demands a blend of product and project management skills, ideally honed within a technology environment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with commercial stakeholders and clients to understand and address the needs for Audience Segments.
Evaluate business impact and ruthlessly prioritize; like most organizations, we have more opportunities and requests than we have resources for.
Conduct market research to inform and refine the Audience Segments strategy.
Develop a compelling strategy for growing our Audience Segments, translating that strategy into tangible product requirements.
Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, operational and marketing teams to ensure prioritized initiatives are understood and delivered.
Become, or be willing to grow into, a Subject Matter Expert in Audience activation for Commercial teams to lean on.
Leverage business intelligence tools and internal analysts to monitor the overall health of Audience Segments and orchestrate problem-solving initiatives when the business impact justifies it.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a business or technical focus such as Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in Product Management, or Project/Program Management with a product focus.
Previous experience in Advertising Technology (e.g., data aggregator, SSP, DSP, DMP / CDP) is beneficial.
While the role will be responsible for data products rather than software, there will be a need to articulate requirements for the latter to support the former. Experience or exposure to software product management would therefore be beneficial.
Skills
Ability to assess which opportunities to capitalize on, which problems to solve for - and critically, which to ignore; be confident saying no when it isn’t in the overall business’s interests to say yes.
Clear and concise communication, translating technical into the non-technical; comfortable speaking in front of groups in meetings and presentations.
Coordination and organization skills across a large, complex matrix organization.
Ability to thrive in an agile environment where small continuous iterations are preferred over large deliverables.
Strategic thinking and story telling; in particular, the ability to craft a compelling story for where your domain is headed so that others come with you.
Nielsen: Enabling your best to power a better media future. Our comprehensive benefits package (including health & wellness plans, 401(k) retirement coupled with a Nielsen match, a generous paid time off policy, company provided car for those who qualify, and if eligible, a discretionary incentive/bonus) is designed to be inclusive for all employees and families, and we take pride in ensuring that employees are rewarded holistically for the role they are doing and their performance.
A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be $50,000 - $185,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.
