Software Engineer - Embedded Systems

Role Overview:

As a Software Engineer at our Richmond, BC location, you will work on world-leading data communications products with a focus on network (IP) communications, WiFi and LTE/5G technologies, developing embedded software for innovative wireless communications devices – Mobile Hotspots and Fixed Wireless Access devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop embedded software for innovative wireless communications devices, such as Mobile Hotspots and Fixed Wireless Access devices

• Contribute to the development and optimization of data communication products, focusing on network (IP) communications, WiFi, and LTE/5G technologies

• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintain best practices

• Document software designs, test plans, and procedures to maintain accurate project records

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements and deadlines

• Debug and troubleshoot software issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions

Overall Qualifications:

• Able to take responsibility for complex software components and drive them through the design, development and acceptance phases

• 2+ years experience in embedded software development using C/C++ • Experience with cellular wireless protocols: 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G/NR

• Experience with WiFi protocol stack • Experience in areas of data communications and knowledge of the TCP/IP suite of protocols IPv4/IPv6

• Experience with audio processing and VoIP • An excellent problem solver with systematic debugging skills

• Minimum of a BS degree in electrical engineering, computer software engineering, or a related discipline

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with cellular wireless protocols (3G/4GLTE/5GNR), wifi protocol stack, networking stack (TCP/IP, IPv4/v6)

• Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Linux kernel development, Open Embedded framework, OpenWRT

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages (python, perl), source code control systems (svn, git)

  • Experience with arm processor, memory management, linux driver development, embedded web clients, gps operation
