BASIC FUNCTION:
The Financial Business Partner plays a pivotal role within the Financial Management team. The role is responsible for designing and interpreting financial reports, developing financial models assessing the impact of strategic scenarios and delivering financial insights that drive the Association’s performance and growth. The role is multifaceted, requiring a blend of analytic acumen, strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and effective communication. Seeking a Financial Business Partner who excels in transforming complex financial scenarios into clear, actionable strategies and has the ability to simplify complex financial issues through the lens of financial analysis and modeling support. This individual will be a catalyst for change, using their expertise in financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making processes across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Trusted Advisor & Strategic Insight
- Trusted Advisor - As a trusted advisor, alongside Financial Management leaders, the Financial Business Partner collaborates closely with senior management and the Office of the CEO. Their role extends beyond routine reporting; they are relied on for interpreting complex strategic financial scenarios.
- Strategic Insight - The Financial Business Partner delivers actionable insights that guide decision-making. These insights shape the association’s long-term financial health, ensuring sustainable growth.
Analytic Excellence & Decision Support
The FP&A and Financial Business Partner functions are dedicated to enhancing business leadership through:
- Financial Modeling & Forecasting
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the association’s business and finances through analysis and collaboration with various departments, understanding external market factors and appropriately interpreting, defining, analyzing, and delivering insights on complex strategic financial scenarios.
- Analyze complex financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to support strategic initiatives. Simplify intricate financial issues for stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding. Provide insightful, data-driven recommendations that propel the business forward.
- Forecasting the financial impact of strategic decisions, applying advanced finance and accounting principles to use financial information effectively in a variety of financial models, such as the application of Monte Carlo Simulations to measure the probability of different outcomes in financial forecasts and estimates, and application of various valuation techniques.
- The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for financial excellence, driving AAC’s success through insightful analysis and strategic financial leadership. The candidate will possess outstanding proficiency in accounting, finance and financial modeling with the ability to communicate across the entire organization.
- Reports & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – Developing reports and KPIs that foster accountability and steer financial goal achievement. Proactively identify and explore opportunities for improving profitability and return on capital (e.g. participating in strategic projects and strategy review exercises). Collaborate with the CFO and the Human Resources department to set effective annual Incentive Compensation goals. Is capable of assisting to challenge, design, and align operational metrics with financial outcomes.
- Strategic Decision Support – Providing strategic decision support, exploring opportunities to improve profitability and return on capital. Design financial and operational analytics to enable informed decision making.
- Management Reporting & Analytics – Crafting insightful management reports and analytics that empower and enable leaders to make informed choices. The Financial Business Partner works alongside the Director of FP&A to create and manage processes and reporting that support the organizations efforts to realize business objectives, as well as partner with business leaders to guide financial planning processes and measure financial performance.
Collaborative Leadership & Business Partnering
- Is a member of the Financial Management Team reporting to the CFO. The Financial Business Partner reports directly to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
- Will partner with the Director of FP&A and Sr. FPA to advise and coordinate tasks/deliverables with the Accounting team, the Data Management & Analytics team, business unit leaders, and other internal stakeholders.
- Promote and provide exceptional customer service to all internal customers and is proactive in engaging appropriately with stakeholders.
Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Co-leads the coordination of budget, forecast, and business unit planning process with Director of FP&A, guiding and advising business leaders toward financial performance objectives.
- Co-leads design of driver-based planning framework and configurations to enhance existing annual budget and forecast processes.
- Co-leads business case design and development (IRR/NPV/Payback analytics) for transformational business initiatives, including Alliances programs, providing insight and decision support from the CFO perspective.
Other
- Identify initiatives by developing practical solutions/enhancements to inefficient processes and procedures.
- Leverage technology to free-up FP&A resources.
- Performs other duties including ad-hoc reporting and analysis as assigned.

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Reports to the Director of FP&A and exercises no supervision. Works under the general direction of the Director of FP&A and Head of Financial Management.
TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or other related field is required.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in a financial business partner role, accounting controllership role or similar finance focused analytical role.
- Outstanding proficiency in accounting, finance and financial modeling using Excel.
- Strong networking abilities to build relationships across the company.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex Finance and Accounting concepts for non-finance stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Experience with development and analysis of cash flow forecasting related to valuation of transformational business initiatives.
- High level of objectivity, empathy, and diplomacy to establish and maintain an effective on-going relationship between management and other internal customers/stakeholders.
- Ability to use software and information technology to collect, organizes, retrieve, maintain and disseminate information. Ability to use technology in new or complex situations.
- Exceptional ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity. Able to balance competing priorities and short lead-times.
- Knowledge of relational databases, data modelling, and experience analyzing management reporting.
- Continuous Learning: Takes initiative for learning and development by acquiring and refining of technical and professional skills needed in job related areas; proactively seeks performance feedback and identifies approaches to improve own performance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; persuasive and inspiring communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
- Desire and ability to travel, up to 10-15%, is required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Travel required in performance of job.
FULL-TIME REMOTE: These roles and job functions can be done remotely, while maintaining our strong commitment to customer service and our business goals. Employees are welcome to come to an office to work if needed, and some travel for team meetings will be required.
PAY RANGE:
Minimum $94,242.51 - Max $160,212.26 Annual
This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
Reflected is the national base pay range and title offered for this job at the current level.
Compensation, title, and job level may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.
Salary offered, within the applicable range, is one component of the total rewards package offered to candidates.
