Job description

Department: Investments Employment Type: Full Time Location: Tampa, FL Description Position Overview The Head of Investment Implementation will lead the end-to-end development of the Wealth Select Portfolio Implementation business including all aspects of portfolio execution and investment operations across client accounts held at Fidelity, Charles Schwab, and Goldman Sachs Advisor Solutions. This position is responsible for translating investment strategy into portfolio action, ensuring accuracy, tax awareness, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate must possess both technical and client-facing skills that enhance their project management expertise. The role also requires a deep knowledge of UMA platforms, reporting and billing tools, alternative asset platforms and actively participating in technical tasks. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Oversight Participate in the ongoing development of product/service strategy for wealth investment advisory services to RIA’s to include portfolio rebalancing, overlay management, and portfolio personalization services such as tax optimization, implementation of tax/risk transition strategies, and direct indexing. Provide sales and product/service development support with some subject matter expertise in wealth advisory services such as overlay management of SMA/UMA and other fee-based programs, high-volume fund and ETF model rebalancing, and portfolio personalization including tax optimization and direct indexing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across internal and external partners to ensure alignment with client needs and strategic objectives. Manage the design and delivery of proof-of-concept initiatives, as well as prospective client investment product/service development, and oversee their implementation into scalable solutions. Oversee the end-to-end implementation of investment strategies across custodians: Fidelity, Charles Schwab, and Goldman Sachs Advisor Solutions. Lead the implementation team and manage workflows involving model updates, trade execution, and portfolio transitions. Partner with President and investment committee to operationalize strategic and tactical portfolio decisions. Custodial Operations & Platform Integration Navigate custodial workflows unique to each platform such as trade settlement timelines, transfer processes, and compliance requirements across Fidelity, Charles Schwab, and Goldman Sachs Advisor Solutions. Ensure seamless onboarding, account maintenance, and execution consistency across custodians. Coordinate with each custodian to stay ahead of operational changes, platform enhancements, and integration opportunities. Technology & Platform Management Manage UMA account implementation, model updates, and custom investment allocations. Oversee performance reporting, billing, and reconciliation processes. Coordinate onboarding, capital calls, and reporting on alternative investments. Trading & Portfolio Execution Manage and execute trades across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs, and alternatives. Monitor client portfolios for drift, cash needs, tax-loss harvesting opportunities, and rebalancing triggers. Implement client-specific restrictions, ESG screens, and custom allocations when required. Process Optimization & Automation Create comprehensive public-facing documentation, including user guides and technical specifications. Define, optimize, and implement solutioning processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the sales and implementation cycles. Expand the client-facing knowledge base and internal documentation related to implementations. Enhance and document workflows across custodial platforms and technology tools to ensure operational scale and accuracy. Develop error-checking processes and build safeguards to ensure implementation precision. Compliance & Risk Oversight Ensure trading and portfolio implementation are fully compliant with each client’s Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and regulatory standards. Maintain audit-ready documentation and collaborate with compliance to reduce operational risk. Advisor & Client Service Support Act as an internal subject matter expert on trading, custodial processes, and portfolio implementation strategy. Support advisor teams with onboarding, asset transitions, portfolio reviews, and special-case execution needs. Guide clients through SMArtX onboarding based on their implementation plans. Schedule and direct onboarding and check-in calls using client project plans. Identify and initiate new integrations required for successful implementation, managing and maintaining a list of active integrations. Project Management: Develop and manage detailed project plans for complex implementation projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Track implementation progress using internal and client feedback, and report these metrics to the executive team. Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. MBA, MS, CFA, or equivalent valued. Hands-on operational experience with Fidelity and Charles Schwab. 7+ years of experience in wealth management, portfolio implementation, trading, or investment operations at an RIA, SMA Manager, multi-custodial wealth management firm or financial technology company. 5+ years of experience in wealth fee-based program development/operations, investment advisory service delivery and operations, and/or investment technology. Expertise in wealth platform technology and portfolio management, including trading, rebalancing, billing workflows, and CRM systems. Excellent project management, communication, and analytical skills. Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions for complex financial services projects. Deep knowledge of investment vehicles, portfolio construction, tax optimized trading, and execution best practices. High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proven team leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Proficiency In Technical project execution: Adept at translating technical requirements into actionable solutions, including data modeling, API integration, and system testing for wealth applications. Understanding of APIs, the investment industry, and the broader technology landscape, including SQL, REST APIs, and Python. Experience with API-first products and implementing API-first infrastructures. Developing, configuring and implementing Order Management Systems (OMS). SmartX or similar TAMP’s (UMA platform) Black Diamond (performance reporting & billing) Preferred Certifications CFA Series 65 or ability to obtain within 90-day Working Conditions Location: This position can be based in Tampa, Florida. However, remote working arrangements will be considered. Hours: Full-time position with standard working hours. Additional hours may be required during peak periods or regulatory examinations.
