The Team:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead our North American Enterprise Data Management (EDM) sales team and drive significant revenue growth. This individual should be an energetic and client focused manager with experience in the financial services industry. It is imperative that you be viewed by clients as a credible advisor and consultant as well as a business development executive. As a sales manager, you should use your creativity and thorough knowledge of sales processes to provide innovative ideas for business growth. Communication and team management skills are also essential for this position.

You will work closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to create compelling value propositions. Your ability to understand client challenges and translate them into actionable solutions will be critical to your success. You will also be expected to mentor and guide sales team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our North American sales strategy and expanding our footprint in key markets. To succeed in this position, you should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a deep understanding of enterprise sales methodologies, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

We sell a mature platform that has been re-invented and are ready to revolutionize the data management space with great products, sophisticated services, data and world class implementations. Our target market is the buy, sell side and increasingly Private Markets (Private Equity, Direct Lending, Real Estate, Venture/Growth, FOF and Institutional Investors).


Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Lead and motivate an experienced and diverse sales team
  • Help to analyze market trends and customer feedback to optimize sales approaches
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions
  • Track and report on sales performance metrics
  • Negotiate contracts and close high-value deals
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline updates
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences
  • Effectively collaborate internally across functional teams to drive sales and client success  

This role is to manage the North American sales team that is focused on new customer acquisition, client renewals, as well as helping to cross-sell (via referrals) existing S&P Global MI customers with our Solutions capabilities. Our offering includes industry-leading software, data services and investment management capabilities across the front-to-back office space. The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Solutions sales team is a fast paced, highly collaborative and results-driven group within S&P Global ’s most strategic and fastest growing division. 

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $112,976 to $200,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working as a sales manager and/or specialist focusing on new customer acquisition
  • Experience with selling complex software into the front, middle or back office of financial firms.
  • Native or business proficiency in English
  • Experience and connections in financial markets (asset managers, insurance firms, pensions, etc.) is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for consultative selling techniques
  • Ability to manage complex sales and client negotiations
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Team player and willing to progress in a rapidly growing environment
  • Ability to inspire and influence peers and colleagues across the firm
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a matrix organization and direct leadership skills in managing a team
  • Available to travel, as needed

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software Solutions selling experience
  • Network of Investment Managers (e.g. asset management firms, investment consulting firms, pension funds, insurance companies)
  • Previous working experience utilizing Salesforce as a CRM
