Director, Programmatic Yield Optimization

We are looking for a Director of Programmatic Yield Optimization to take ownership of analyzing and improving the performance of our open market programmatic revenue. This role is best suited for a strategic, data-centric thinker who is passionate about digging into auction data, uncovering patterns, and identifying optimization opportunities that directly impact revenue per mille (RPM) and overall yield.

This is a key internally focused position designed for someone who thrives on turning data into actionable insights, working closely with analytics, product, and ad operations teams to guide yield strategy and decision-making.

Position Summary

Analyze Auction Data to Drive Revenue

  • Lead deep-dive analysis of bid behavior, pricing trends, inventory performance, and auction dynamics to identify opportunities for improving open market revenue and RPM.
  • Monitor programmatic KPIs such as bid density, fill rate, floor performance, and win rate to proactively flag issues and opportunities.
  • Provide clear, data-backed recommendations to optimize pricing strategies, floor logic, and inventory allocation.

Strategic Yield Optimization

  • Develop and refine yield strategies that increase monetization efficiency across open exchange inventory, PMPs, and direct deals.
  • Collaborate with ad operations and analytics teams to test, implement, and measure changes in auction settings, floor prices, and demand configurations.
  • Identify underperforming segments and work to improve monetization through data-driven segmentation and optimization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including data analysts, product managers, and ad operations to align on goals and implement optimization initiatives.
  • Translate complex data into digestible insights and present findings to leadership and operational teams to guide strategic decisions.
  • Partner with the analytics team to maintain and enhance dashboards and reports that provide visibility into programmatic performance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in programmatic yield, ad operations, or analytics with a strong understanding of digital advertising mechanics.
  • Strong data skills with comfort analyzing large datasets using tools like SQL, BigQuery, Excel, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Deep understanding of how programmatic auctions work, including floor pricing, header bidding, and supply-side dynamics.
  • Analytical thinker with a proactive mindset and a track record of identifying monetization opportunities through data.
  • Familiarity with ad tech platforms such as Google Ad Manager and leading SSPs (e.g., Magnite, Index Exchange, Xandr).
