Overview
The In-Field Medical Advisor/Senior Medical Advisor will be involved in the launch of our Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) product (lifileucil) into Italy. The candidate should have a strong network of oncology (and if possible, also hematology) KOLs and clinical societies in the respectively country and has been involved in building medical plans and launching drugs before.
The candidate will work cross-functionally with internal global stakeholders and external vendors to support the regulatory and market access in Europe. The candidate will also support the global clinical operations and clinical science team with our ongoing phase 2 lung cancer, phase 3 melanoma and phase 1 studies in Europe by engaging with current and potential future principal investigators. A large component of the job will be engaging with HCPs.
ESSENTIAL criteria the candidate must meet all:
- Living in either: the Netherlands, the UK or Switzerland and have to have working rights in that country
- Be fluent (verbal and written) in English and Italian. Other additional languages are nice to have.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Affairs is required with drug launch experience in oncology and/or haemato-oncology, preferably in CART cell space
- Solid expertise in oncology/hematology/immuno-oncology/(CAR)T cell therapy and/or solid tumor therapeutics, with preference in skin cancer and/or lung cancer medical affairs experience
- Thorough understanding of the EU/Swiss regulatory and reimbursement processes and EFPIA and country level compliance regulation, preferably in CART cell.
Additional criteria that would benefit the candidate:
- Advanced scientific degree preferred: PhD, PharmD, MD, but open to other degrees
- Thorough understanding of T cell immunology and immuno-oncology
- Having a KOL network in T cell therapy (hematologist) or medical oncology
Travel
Ability to travel within Europe and occasionally to the US.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Enhance Iovance Biotherapeutics image as an advocate of medical advancement by using knowledge of product, disease state and pipeline products to engage healthcare providers in meaningful scientific exchange of information
- Provides effective scientific and clinical presentations related to disease states and Iovance’s products (approved and pipeline) to internal and external audiences and tailors presentations to meet specific audience needs
- Identify, map, and profile key opinion leaders within territory to gain medical insights and evaluate potential opportunities for scientific collaboration
- Develop and maintain successful relationships with healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and providers at academic and non-academic settings to support scientific activities aligned with medical strategy including publications, advisory boards, and clinical trials.
- Collect and report field medical insights and intelligence using appropriate methods and platforms
- Support sales training initiatives as a scientific resource to commercial partners
- Attend and provide scientific support of Medical Affairs activities and scientific sessions at key medical and scientific congresses
- Consistently demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude that exemplifies ownership of business, partnership with key opinion leaders, teamwork with peers, and respect of supervisors, peers, and customers
- Possess an established medical/scientific background and a proven ability to effectively communicate complex information
- Develop and prioritize solutions to problems, understand relationship between actions and results, and be able to understand and appreciate needs of the healthcare community
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the Field Medical Affairs organization
- Coordinate scheduling and training events with outside KOLs and vendors
- Create and update scientific materials for Field Medical Affairs use in the field
- Participate as the designated Field Medical representative in cross-functional teams and projects
- Report field medical intelligence and insights as appropriate by sharing with internal teams, assembling qualitative feedback reports, and escalating to leadership as appropriate
- Positively impact the success of the overall Field Medical Affairs and Medical Affairs organizations via collaborations and contributions to departmental projects and initiatives
